  • The zuidas area of amsterdam is an important international business center lacking residential quarters. MVRDV’s ‘valley’ will transform the area into a more livable and complete urban quarter, ‘welcoming large amounts of residents and additional public facilities to the area over the next decade’.
the project is defined by three peaks of varied heights which reach up to 100 meters, where a publicly accessible sky-bar offers panoramic views over amsterdam. the complex consists of 196 apartments, 7 stories of offices, a three-story parking lot, and various retail and cultural facilities.

I think it's great, I can see it from the train and it's amazing every time I see it.
It looks like it's made for a science fiction movie.

Meanwhile in my german hometown: "After 10 years of arguing, we finally made it. We made the decision that we want to develop a new residential area. In sight of the massive scale of this project, which is planned to house up to 600 residents, we hope that in just 10 years, we will turn the first sod." Lol and then it turns out to be shitty detached housing for 800.000€ per house.

Looks GREAT, but wondering if it still looks great in let's say, 400-500, or even a 100 years? Like the canal houses and old buildings in the city center?
Or will it look old, dated and soulless, like many of the modern architecture that is build a decade or few ago?

@@dutchchatham1 absolutely. Given how suicide is encourage in the face of a demographics crisis and is made to justify mass immigration from the middle east, not only do you need jesus you need brains. Nobody cares about these pretentious and gaudy apartment complexes that tries to cram meaning into every aspect when a simple “we did it to look cool and laugh at birds smacking into them” is sufficient

Have to agree with previous poster about it looks like it was eaten by termites. Interior color too bland, looks like dirt. Broken up some how, perhaps with wood veneers on some units, or black glass/blue marble trim between floors. Fantastic concept however, love the see-thru grotto. Rooftop spaces seem a bit neglected however, the building kind of just...ends. Also looks somewhat alien in the neighborhood. Easily solved with some white elements, which seems to be dominant in the neighboring buildings. Could also be the render making the building appear dark when it is brighter in real life. Plain black facade...boring...
