- Bayer Leverkusen sealed their first ever Bundesliga title with five games to spare after thrashing visitors Werder Bremen 5-0. After the final whistle hundreds of fans rushed onto the pitch to celebrate with the players. Fans outside the stadium were also celebrating, ecstatic to be victorious 'after all the runner-up finishes'.

In 0:43 a banner 99/2000... like a waiting twenty-five years, but finally... Leverkusen champions. Deutscher Meister!!!!!!!!
I dunno how close they were back in the day, but certainly this is their fisrt time champion title! 😁
@@TR4R Leverkusen just needed a draw at the last matchday of 99/2000 to win the title, but then they lost in Unterhaching by 2:0 (first goal was an own goal by Michael Ballack). Ofcourse Bayern Munich won their game and also the title. 2 years later Bayer Levrkusen was 4 points ahead of Dortmund before the last 4 matchdays and managed to finish second at the end of the season and also lost the "Pokalfinale" and the champions league final against Real Madrid (beautiful goal by Zidane) in the same year. This time the name "Vizekusen" was born, which you could translate "Secondkusen". Since then we finished second for five times. Every Leverkusen fan wouldnt talk about the Championship even with like 10 points and 7 games ahead. Everyone knowed what happened in the past. And now... we finally made it.
Its been a while since a very big red and black crowd raged on Germany
