Question why are you not layering the nape area ?
Hey Diego, thanks for your question. Unfortunately my Dollys hair wasn't long enough to include in this approach to Triangular layers. Normally i would come back through and cut a stronger triangle design line to complete the haircut.
Thought i'd keep this one super basic for newbies.
Also the manufacturer of the blonde dollys i use, hasn't got back to me sorry.
i have three Pixie graduated haircuts coming soon

Thank you from Upstate New York!⭐
It's been so long since i have been to New York.
Thank you. Why it is called a triangular layer? Is it because of the degree of elevation or finger angle, or the Pointed shape in the perimeter. In French they say effilee for pointed layers cut by diagonal forward sections and directing the hair forward
Hey Roro, this haircut is triangular because of the sectioning and the over direction of the sections before cutting, creating shorter at the back to longer at the front. Also because of the cutting angle
Thank you

You are amazing teacher been can you do a video and show how to do feathered haircut at the back on long hair.
Hey, do you mean layered when you say feathered. Usually that term only relates to face framing. As it would be impossible to see this texture without an opening like the face. The density of hair in the back of the head would blend together making the feathering effect to not be visible
Your triangle layers are to-die-for😊
Thank you so much, glad you like it

If James is your Hairstylist you are very very lucky!
Is this cut always cut from a centre part so it can be parted anywhere ? or from the clients usual part ?
Your too kind Blish 🤗.
I personally think it’s best to work with a centre part,.
I love this haircut too. It's hard to chose just one, you are amazing.
Thank you so much!!

Really nice cutting
Thank you! Cheers!
What is the maxium length you can do this on? Im just asking, as my hair goes to my mid back and im tired of just one length with a little bit of body. I want some movement without taking to much from the length and also i have a fear of it looking wispy at the ends and not full.
Hey! Welcome to my channel and thanks for watching. This haircut can be cut all cut on all lengths of hair. However it will look very different the longer it gets.

Stunning🎉🎉🎉🎉
I have a question. What about just triangle layer not concave triangle layer? I mean how is sectioning for back?
Also i didnt understand what happend for the hair in the below of occipital bone, they are so short and can't take it?
Hey! The hair underneath of the occipital bone is left out because it is too short (medium length hair). Both triangular and concave mean the same thing when cutting hair. The cutting angle and the sectioning is triangular in the back. The reason the distribution is square meaning directing back to the previous not to the first section, is an option to create a more tasteful shape. Creating a less dramatic shape
Love your videos please can you show how to do beach waves.

Your really talented, do you work cutting hair at a salon?
Hey Steven, thank you so much for your compliment. I really appreciate your feedback and support. I have taken a break from salon work during the current pandemic. I have dedicated this time to youtube and education. I'm looking forward to getting back into salon work when i immigrate to the USA next year. How long have you been hairdressing ?
Stunning 😍
Thank you! 😊
Does the over direction create the triangle from short to Long?
Hey Norma, yes you are correct
I meant to say does the finger angle determine the the triangle but thank you for answering so soon thanks so much
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Very very nice
Thank you so much for watching
Can you cut triangle layers on long hair (waist length)? Or will the effect not look the same?
Hey Crystal, triangular layers look their best on super long hair. Perfect for waist length hair. The face framing will be much lower, if you follow this tutorial. What you can do is cut in a super long fringe using the same techniques and you’ll be able to achieve this look

is this haircut suitable for Diamond face shape? Also can you recommend best haircuts for long 2b fine hairs maintaining volume and length
Hey. All layered haircuts can be suitable for all face shapes. It really depends on where the layers are placed (cut ) around the face. Maintaining volume and length can be tricky. I always consult with my client giving them the option of more body and less length or more length less body. Sadly we can't have both with fine thin hair types. When layering hair types like this it is very visual when recommending. I hope this helped a little.
Is the triangular haircut cut straight on the sides and back or angled at the perimeter? Thank you!
Hey Jose, a triangular haircut wether it's a one length, graduated or layered is shorter in the back and longer in the front. When layered it will be shorter in the back and longer in the front + the cutting angle of the layer will be cut on a angle. Here is a very detailed explanation to understand your question better, Let me know what you think ..

This is one of my favorite of your tutorials, but this technique was elevated to 135 ?
Hey! The shape can be cut triangular and can also be over directed which also creates a triangular shape. Two different mechanics.
@@HairByJamesAnnabelyes. But I just wanted to know in this case if you use 90 or a bit higher elevation ❤
@@luiginabustillos2701 sorry im really confused 😉
@@HairByJamesAnnabel oh no, I'm very sorry I didn't think it was a tricky question.
I know is triangular for the overdirection, but I know now that, any shape can be done in convex or concave. But I'm not sure in this video if it was lifted to 90 degree or a bit higher (around 135) but it doesn't matter.
@@luiginabustillos2701 hey! It doesn’t matter
Hi James, What is your comb make pls? Thanks
Watching from UK
Hey Von, welcome to my channel. My combs are from Ys Parks
Loves the UK
Hi James, big fan ! Question tho : at 3.45 to around 4.10 is the perimeter line dropped out to avoid losing weight, losing perimeter length and creating a hole in this area ? Overdirecting back obviously helps but I have a tendency to cut the perimeter line here shorter for some reason. Frustrating when I cut any angle in this area . Advice ?
Hey Martin, thank you so much. So stoked you like my tutorials.
To answer your first question. The perimeter is cut in this tutorial, more length is removed from the top, reducing down to the bottom of each cutting section (a very small amount is cut from the perimeter). A tip that may help you is to elevate your cutting angle straight up to 90° (not from the head shape like round layers, 90° to the roof (square) or as shown in this tutorial. , this will increase the length in the perimeter. Cutting a round cutting line will definitely reduce the perimeter. Double check your elevation. If you are cutting round cutting sections, this will definitely cut off the triangular corner making it the perimeter seem shorter than it should be.
To answer your second question, over directing back to a stationary guide will build length and weight moving forward. Once complete the hair will be shorter in this area, i would come back through and cut a triangular line at the end to connect the back through to the front to accentuate the longer lengths in the front if the haircut doesn't connect in this area.
Let me know if i answered your questions or just rambled.
If you have a dolly, feel free to film where your going wrong or take pics of your elevation and cutting angles. send them through to my instagram and i may be able to help you.
Remember the existing / previous haircut will impact how your haircut will look.
I'n the back section i leave the perimeter out as the previous haircut is too short to connect into the chosen triangular layers cutting elevation. If the nape area could connect, i would definitely connect it. Rarely do we get clients with super long haircuts where this is possible.
Is this cut good for fine wavy and curly hair??
Hey! All layered haircuts are good for fine wavy hair. The length you choose will determine how good it looks. The shorter the better for fine hair types. I have this tutorial "how to cut Layers for VOLUME Tutorial" launching on March 19. It is the best layered haircut for fine wavy hair

What's the difference between triangle, square and round layer cut
Hi Samia, thanks for your question. I have created an in depth tutorial covering this for you ua-cam.com/video/e_59Q3tDloE/v-deo.html
❤❤❤❤❤ from mexico
Welcome to my channel and thanks for watching
Is it round concave layer or triangle concave layer? Whats different? Im confused😅
Great question. The distribution in the front zones is triangular (shorter in the back, longer in the front) the opposite to round distribution. Over directing the length back. The Cutting angle in the back is triangular and the sectioning being diagonal increase's length into the corners (triangular) even though our distribution is square (directing every new section back to previous). There is a lot of mechanics and options when cutting a triangular layered shape

Amazing.
Constructive feedback on your page, obviously you know how to suck many types of eggs. This is a word I came came across when doing hair and beauty. APEX. The area on the skull where it curves I was told. However.... years later I was studying something else and... apparently
The Apex is always the highest point, summit, top most point etc. I only know, due to learning about a totally different subject from my hairdressing. It was mentioned regarding mountains. I had to look 👀 into it a bit deeper obviously. And yeah, so that's new to me. So a teefal head now seems different than a pea head.
