I'd get up early on Saturday mornings and warm up the tv so I could watch my favorite shows. Skyking, Roy Rodgers, and the Lone Ranger. I had a crush on Penny, Sky king's niece. My brothers would wake up in time for the cartoons to start.

Sky King was a favorite of mine always chasing bad guys into an airport with the Songbird😊. I think Superman was after school, those words,
"Look up in the sky", Made my little heart beat faster..
      😊😊😊😊😊

I always liked the Roy Rogers and Gene Autry type of westerns the best. Despite the slightly overdone cheer and good manners, there was more of a feeling of reality that the viewer could identify with. John Wayne and the other older stars had that quality, but none of the newer ones; THEY look like Hollywood fiction.

The last western I saw that came out of Hollywood was The Shootist. The last really great western.

When I was a youngster, back around 1950, my friends and I used to get a kick out of all the ammunition Roy and the others went through without reloading. No one had to get killed, but we liked all the gunfire and the knock-down fighting where nobody ever got a black eye or a broken nose.

It has been said that Vivaldi wrote the same symphony 300 times, well, Roy and Gene made the same movie 50 times.

It was while they were filming this movie that Roy and Dale were married.

+luckinbill Roy was still married to Arlene while the movie was being filmed. She died of an embolism a few days after the October 30, 1946, premiere of the film. Roy and Dale were married December 31, 1947. See John Wooley, _Shot in Oklahoma: A Century of Sooner State Cinema_, pp. 90-91. The pages can be read at books.google.com.

I've tried to tell folks that we had Regional trains in America in the Forties and Fifties! Just like the Germans! Only in Germany they're mostly on time!
