Thank you, happy to know someone with a disability like me, who live a minivan life. Would ne very interested to know more disable people like this. But thanks to her, she is amazing :)
I really don't know why but it really does break my heart to see such beautiful woman in such a situation, my heart goes out to her and I hope that she gets more than just a minivan. I've lived in my minivan for almost four years and let me tell you I want out. Living in your minivan can be very fun and adventurous, but it can quickly turn into a very lonely and dark place, or dangerous depending on where you are. Even with my doggo. From Los Angeles California God bless.
I don't think it would be that way with me. Every new city I would be exploring new things. I would just get on UA-cam and look up fun things to do in that city. I also love trying new foods so I would find interesting places to eat.
I understand where you both are coming from but people are usually reluctant to give up their independence. To me, she can travel on her own terms. Fortunately, Canada is much better than the US at caring for their elderly and disabled citizens.
Well said, I hate how van life is romanticized as the end all be all alternative to housing. Most of the people out there are there out of financial constraints vs wanting to explore. Sure, there are the few who happen to be minimalist travelers but the majority have done this out of poverty.
So good to see such a lovely woman of faith and honest about her issues but willing to try new things and see what happens❤ bless her Lord and thanks for her life and good cheer in adversity❤
What a beautiful human being, Joan deserves a larger living space to make life more comfortable for herself. Thanks so much Bob for interviewing this incredibly inspirational woman!
Hi Bob, thank you for this video. Seeing how many more steps this woman has to take to live the lifestyle she chooses is very inspirational. Those of us who have the full use of all our physical capabilities are fortunate. My daughter was injured severely in an auto accident at age 18, 20 years ago now. Watching her and others persevere and live life mistakes and all, makes me endeavor every day to live a life with no excuses. One step forward and 2 steps back, but we make progress nontheless. Wow, fear can paralyze us more than physical disability. I've learned a lot from your channel, thank you. ✌
I too am in a chair. Thank you Joan for your spirit and courage. I been in the hunt for a small bus with a lift. My chair is 367 lbs,. and I'm 250#. I think I can do it and will some day soon.
Hopefully she can get into a small schoolie with a lift already in it. I sure appreciate her positivity and bravery in coming down here on a solo trip. Great video.
If life gives you a lemon, make lemonade out of it. I love her attitude, her spontaneity, and her will to survive. Count your blessings and make your blessings count.
Amazing woman of faith. I too am disabled but at my age life in a senior community suits me best. Your grand adventure is beyond me reach but you go girl!
I pray that she receives an incredible blessing of the right vehicle for her that would improve her life. She is such a sweet lady. Wishing her all the best in her journey.👍🙏
❤️JOAN❤️ I met this remarkable woman last year at Quartzsite! Such a godly, kind and strong woman!!!!! So good to see you on here...glad you came back down for the winter!!!❤️
She's so freaking cool. So many people want to live vanlife but they're not because while they're disabled by their fears. This woman is challenged physically, but her faith has allowed her mind to soar and she's putting actions behind her dreams. May we all have that level of faith, if not in a God, at least in ourselves.
I am a 60 year old female In a power chair that travels in my wheelchair 2010 dodge grand caravan. I have wire cubbies in the back in the hatch area for storage I have a built in platform for my bed and I understand what she means about claustrophobic! When my power chair is inside the van and the door is shut there is no space! I have to be acrobatic to use the Porta potty! I hope to be in Arizona in January 2024. I would love to meet you both out and about!❤👍🏻 Safe travels!
Super nice lady with a sweet smile, and a great attitude about life. If Joan can do this, then the majority of people definitely can do it too. I wish her all the best and hope that she was able to get a larger van that would give her some more living space.
Great vid, disabilities take extra time, energy, and accommodating environments that we have to create to participate so its wonderful that she started a YT channel. Thank you Bob for this inclusive video, feels like acceptance into a community of like minded people, makes me more committed to what my heart wants to do...hit the road.
What an amazing calm lady. I don't more how a wheelchair inhabitant can do this. Its hard to do van life. This must be infinitely more difficult. She has a wonderful attitude. Don't know how she maintains her great attitude
What an amazing woman! I pray she is doing well and is hopefully in a larger vehicle with a lift. She is an inspiration to so many of us who let our fears get in the way.
I found your video today was watching it and I must commend you you’re very brave and I can only imagine your reasons for doing this, and one is to get the hell out of the house. I don’t blame you at all I know you haven’t done it full-time yet. I was considering selling my sticks and bricks and moving into my van or into a mobile home, but the reason I haven’t is because I see people having such a hard time finding a place to park and they really get into a tizzy when it breaks down and has to stay in the shop for couple Days. I think if I had a ton of money I would go buy property so that people could come and park their vans. Or there cars or whatever they’re living in and be able to live without having to move every night or every 14 days. I didn’t catch the name of your channel so I hope you find this message and give it to me. I thought you said it was wheels on wheels but I looked and I can’t find that. Hope I find you again.
what an incredibly strong and creative Joan!! she must have incredible zest to live to manage this lifestyle and do so well. must be exhausting and challenging at times to move around in that small space while being disabled like Joan is! I just have enormous respect for what she accomplished! That is really living life to the full! Thanks Bob and Joan for another very inspiring story.
Another amazing inspirational super human friend of Bobs'. Thank you! I have been debating changing to this life style for a long time and thought that my occasional dependence on a wheel chair made it impossible. No more. I am back to making plans. Hi Cody
This woman is awesome. I have bad legs, but I can walk a little bit. I tried to camp in my small SUV. It just didn`t work. So, I bought a small trailer. But with the trailer, I only get eleven miles per gallon. This lady has it going on. If I meet her, I would like her to teach me how I can do better. I will be full time next month, I hope to meet her or someone like her.
What a wonderful positive lady. Yikes, just thinking this nice lady has to be doubly or more careful than others in that.... Some evil predators would see her as an easy target. Hoping she is vigilant against this. Please be around other nice rvrs or nomads. Love and peace to u all
We do need to get volunteer groups to make and install lifts for those who must have a slightly larger van or rv..lots of veterans and the disabled could benefit from this
very inspiring by Joan and her Story, heading over to her Channel now, thanks for introducing her and allowing her to Share her Story, thumbs up and thanks for sharing with us.
She truly a inspiration, to all we should never complain, it’s always someone situation is different and sometimes more challenging . Live life and laugh more and be kind to all, a smile goes far and can make someone day. Thank you 😊❤
It was really interesting to see how she gets in the van and the lift for the wheelchair. Best of luck to her in her new adventures. Hopefully before too long she will find a vehicle that will better suit her needs.
Thank you for this video and hearing her story. I will be subscribing to her channel and my wish is that it grows quickly so she can obtain any and all support she needs and wants. More space to get into her van home and a good lift would maybe make life a little easier but she can and will decide. I am also Canadian and I visit BC, another beautiful province in our country. Praying for her the best.
oh my god!! i’m in a wheelchair and i’ve been really looking into doing a no build minivan setup, and i’ve never seen anyone else in a wheelchair doing this. i’ve hardly seen any other disabled people doing vanlife, and this has made me feel like i can really do this. i’m fairly bedroom bound due to my disabilities and i also cannot travel at all because of it. i could build my own accessible bedroom/home and drive anywhere and go anywhere. it’s not like i need space to walk around, just enough for my chair, hopefully. i would love a ramp. but first i need to actually learn how to drive haha. anyway! this video is so very helpful and inspiring to me i’m so glad i’ve found her!! thank you for putting this out here 💕💕
God's got you on all this, don't give up, I'm praying for you girl. God is protecting all the way, your doing great, I'm definitely will be looking for you more on utube
The window covers by weather tech great idea , I was hoping someone came out with that idea I had black curations made twice for different vehicles worked well but a little more insulation is always welcome .
Nice setup! I know the extra work she has to do is well worth it to have independence. She can go and do what she wants when she's ready without having to be dependent on someone else to help. Admiration!
She's an awesome example to all of us.
Yes! A mighty example!❤
well said. encouraging!

Yes my thoughts exactly. Literally broke my heart. I would let her live with me in a second 😢
I don't think it would be that way with me. Every new city I would be exploring new things. I would just get on UA-cam and look up fun things to do in that city. I also love trying new foods so I would find interesting places to eat.

Thanks for including talk of faith, which is important to many of us. Sometimes vloggers are afraid to include that part of the conversation.
She made me smile on how much love and light in her life! Thank you for sharing her video
She has the same challenges in her van home as everyone. And has same as well! I applaud her courage! Have fun, Joan! Enjoy the adventure!

My nephew has a foldable wc and it takes less room inside of his car. It is very strong, but compact and easy to handle. I wish her well.
