Hard to believe that within a hundred or so years when titanic has been completely eaten away by microbial life this piece will be all that remains of her
I was lucky enough to get to tour this exhibit. This room is meditative and haunting all at once. You realize the gravity of the history in front of you and can't help but just soak it in. It changes you.
If you go to the traveling Titanic exhibit as it goes around to museums, they have a small piece in a case you can touch. When I went the first time they came to my city, I suggested that they have a touchable piece because some people are very tactile with history. When I've gone to places with old buildings I always want to touch them, like the columns at the Roman Forum. And you can touch a few, so I was pleased to see they added that component to the exhibit the second time around.

If they left her the way she was then she would have rotted and crumbled in to literal rust dust. They couldn't take a chance so they needed to do a process of Desalination removing microbes and bacteria that would be eating away at the Iron and oxidising leaving Rusticles. If they didn't treat the Iron then she would have crumbled away in chunks until there was nothing left. All that will be left of her Wreck in less than 20 years will be anything that was Bronze and a pile of Iron and rust amongst other materials from within. Recent trips within the last year have reported that she is beginning to disappear at a faster rate, alot of the structure has already disintegrated. Personally I believe that it is time to let her Wreck Rest and leave her alone to rest with the Souls of 1500 whose spirits watch over their beloved ship's Wreck
When I saw this I was freaking out because it was actually a piece of the titanic
Me too. I wanted to touch it lol
It might still have bacteria
@@LB-zoom5 the fact that you can say that you have touched the titanic is a bucketlist thing
@revelr it’s a whole new feeling when you can say you touch the moon!

The Bronze propeller, propeller Shaft, turbine Blade and the boiler heat exchanger probably will not disappear.

I went to the exhibit when it came to Seattle around 20 years ago, and I ignored the sign and touched it.
@@retrogameraaron4778I'd do the same 👍

This should be in Belfast in the official titanic mueseum
It travels around the country and the world for all to see. I saw it in Vegas. Well worth the $40 ticket
Nobodys coming to fkn belfast to see this lmao
Belfast is where it stays most of the time. It was just doing a tour at this particular moment.
Belongs to Belfast not other countries
Titanic is Belfast no other countries
Looks like it originated from right about where the ship split apart?
The music in the background is so nice but I don't know the name
The name of the track, please!
Imaging licking that 112 year old bacteria metal
I have touched the "Big Piece" in Atlanta, yet you have told us nothing. TD Atlanta
What it feels like?
@@sosigboi3921 probably like metal
@@thebrantfordrailfan haha haha haha.. Haha.... Good one
We must collect some proper parts of her since the ship will disappear within 50 years. It must be ok. there is no human remains.
they didn't have to paint it.. leave it raw as it was extracted from water

They didn't paint it. I believe they used a wax seal of sorts to help preserve it
