The most exciting piece of music for concert band that The Concord Band has ever commissioned. And Andrew Boysen is one of the most electric, brilliant young conductors I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The piece was complex; Andrew answered every single question each of the 65 members had; was a brilliant conductor (didn't just beat notes; he imbibed the music!).....I had goosebumps after the piece was over. Wow! (Each movement is based on the principal instrument that each of the Concord Band's three music directors specialized in: first movement: percussion (for founder of the Band and MD for 33 years, William Toland); second movement : alto saxophone for Dr. William McManus (MD through 2009); third movement: tuba for James O'Dell (MD from 2009 to present/2020). The "buzz" after this premiere performance among the players was phenomenal, through the roof positive!
