My pleasure for finding it and giving it to you to make this video! Definitely looks cool going down the lane. Wonder if the reaction was better when new.

Well hold on a second, let's see if the video is any good first before we start making those declarations. I mean the bowling space on YT is getting crowded....jk😜
Love how chill you are with the people asking questions, I know that it’s probably hard when your trying to film, some people crash out in those situations 😂
100% agree, older resin covers like this need friction to have any chance on today's conditions. Ball will roll significantly better playing more like 10-5 rather than 17-10.
@@joepurdom2528I've thrown all types of older bowling balls on house. You can bank all of them off the side and make them look good. Haven't been able to master the rubber ball from the 60s in 3 attempts though!
I remember when this ball came out and all the hype. The price tag also made the hype more. I think it was $200+ back in the day and compared to the Quantum line from Brunswick.
I love that you show where your foot placement is, where the ball crosses the arrow, and where it breaks into the pins. Once I learned how to read the lanes and adjust foot and ball placement, I went from an okay 165-170 average bowler to almost a 220 average great bowler. This was back in 2009-2010 but it was the best 2 years of bowling I ever had.
I can't believe there are idiots on here that criticize what ball you choose to throw that much, throw plastic or whatever you want every video, i personally could care less, there are plenty of channels out there critiquing the modern reactive balls, stay unique and original man 😊
Ever try the Ebonite Clear Werewolf (not the orange clear Wolf)? It has the Werewolf core in a clear plastic. It can move quite a bit between the core and flip block inside.
Only other cool bowling balls I can think of ended up being plastic but it was the lane 1 crystal clear buzzsaw. I remember someone having it when I was bowling in highschool
The Optyx seems to react like my old Track Heat bowling ball. Had to stand far right on a heavy oil lane as it didn't hook much but had more reaction on shorter, lighter oiled lanes. Bowled my first 200 with that ball back in 2008.
Back in the mid 90's Ebonite had a awesome clear plastic ball. It was clear plastic with the Werewolf weight block. You should add it to your collection. It was the tits on the burn.
First off: WAY BETTER video quality. Full 4k. Thank you for finally joining the 21st Century. Second: You were way too deep with this ball. If you had gotten right and played it like a urethane I think you could have got to 300. It is a "mild" reactive and needs dry to work. Play it in the part of the lane it was designed for and you would have been golden. Totally cool ball.
I had the Optyx Formula 1 in the early 2000s when it came out lol. It was a decent ball on oil conditions back then, but it never rolled as good as it looks.
RG and Diff contend with some of our big balls today but you can reall see the difference these new coverstocks are making. With those numbers a new ball wouldve been mooooving
did you bleed the ball and put back some surface? That helps some dead balls get back some of their reaction. I see it all the time w people using older equipment. I bleed my Lights out every 6 months and it stays reactive to the pattern. Maybe doing that will help give it some life again
How about a blast from the past? A Track Nuke or T-Shark??? I averaged 218, 221 & 223 in 3 leagues I bowled in 1994 & the T-Shark hooked so hard it would cross the 7 pin around the 54' mark- Those would be interesting to watch you throw...
The 8ball you have was remade for sports authority, the original 8ball the 8 is slightly squashed. Also a clear reactive ball would be the clear wolf, I gut in my summer league still uses it.
It's probably a very slow absorbing oil cover, so since you didn't wipe the ball the oil might be building up and stopping the traction especially when you rapid fire shots.
I use to have this ball. It was always meant to be a down and in ball. Gotta stand way right of what you normally would. Swinging out was never an option.
The ball reaction really wasn't that bad, you just needed to move more right and get it right. Through it over 10-12 and get it out to like 6, she'll find the dry and come right back.
I have a friend that's a Nascar fan and he has this Optyx NIB. When I found out I wanted to buy it for s's and g's but he wouldn't let it go. I was very disappoint
When that ball originally came out I was going to buy one but they kept jacking the price up on it and I left it alone cuz there was no bowling ball worth $300 24 years ago
The formula 1 was a dud even when was new in 2001. Ebonite released 1 other clear reactive ball, the Optyx Spider. They also released several plastic and 1 or 2 non-clear reactive balls in the Optyx series. The cover stock was basically what you experienced, not much bite. It’s a super weak reactive.
That's always bothered me the most about bowling is u couldn't ever have custom balls made to compete with. Everyone always had to use same boring balls. Ur plastic spare ball could sometimes be somewhat customized. Always wished i could tattoo my balls lol
I’m glad those guys are interested in what you’re doing… However, I find it a little rude since they know that you are filming they keep talking to you 🤪🤪🤪
Looks like the Ebonite Optyx F1 isn't a very reactive ball. For me is looks like a ball for getting spares. When someone tells me otherwise I understand. The Storm Summit ascent looks like the most reactive ball. And the black pearl hammer looks like it's between the others. After watching this I think it's the best to use the Summit Ascent for the strikes. Unless someone tells me is best to use another kind of bowlingball.😁

Thank u again sir 😂 I’d imagine 20 years ago they used less oil and the ball probably matched up better. Plus the ball was probably less dead
