We can also eliminate FMS=110 as the error sum because adding 10 to FMS would make it 120, which is not possible since 120 is the total sum. Hence the error must be in FMD only.

how do we know that the sum is 120? it is not mentioned anywhere?

@@amanaggarwal1967 Adding all the given values gives you 3(F+M+S+D)= 350 which is with the error of + or - 10. After taking both cases it can only be a total of 360 because that gives you the natural numbers.Divide by 3 and you get F+M+S+D =120

Why can't the age of the daughter and son be 5 and 25 since it's not said that they should have an individual 0 in the units digit.

This is not possible as if son and daughter have 25 and 5 , then in the correct equations the sum would have unit digit of 5 and not zero . hence 20 and 10
