I played that "prediction game" back in the 1970s that one day Lyatoshynsky will be recognized as a true master composer. I think now is the beginning of this predictions realisation. The tragedy of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and the "surprising" (sic!) reaction by Ukraine has finally made the world begin to desire to get to know who are those people. Good luck finding out - may be difficult still, but worth the effort,
The performance of Ihor (Igor) Blazhkov and his Perpetuum Mobile ensemble of Lyatoshynsky's Suite on Ukrainian Folk themes (a great and very unique use of folk themes) is simply brilliant and very strong, where the structure of each movement clearly gives us a narrative that is understandable and gets us closer to the truth of each piece with each rehearing. And recorded just short of 4 decades ago - the next question: why was it iso invisible to the general music world for so long?
Do you also have recordings of his lessor known orchestral works such as his last orchestral work "Festival Overture", the stunning "Slavic Suite" as well as Suite from Film 'Shevenchenko'? I feel Slavic Suite deserves a more prominent place in his orchestral output since it is a natural transitional work linking the mysterius Polish Suite and his polyphonic Symphony No.5. The suite marks Lyatoshynsky's embarking on a completely different level of mastery of polyphonic writing. Also, I cannot understand why there is no public performance to date, at least to my knowledge, of his Festival Overture, despite being his last orchestral work. If you have any of these works and can share them, I would really appreciate!
Great composer, glad I learned about him.
Photo of a Ukrainian beauty is awesome.
Greetings from California.
My pleasure.

Дуже гарно, дякую.
The magnificent and outstanding masterpiece! Thanks a lot for uploading!
Yes, agreed.
Amazing music.

Slava Ukraini!!! Heroiam Slava!
