Im kinda sketched out on buying batteries (ive seen too many people get fake batteries from amazon and crappy sellers), so heres what im gonna do
Im gonna buy an 18650 or 21700 with a built in usb c port, connect the battery to the box, connect a longish usb c cable to the battery and leave the other end in the box, and whenever i need to charge, ill fish out the wire and plug it in. It should work just fine because the voltage range of 3 ni-mh pretty much lines up perfect with a li-ion battery, and the battery has a built in protection circut that saves it from over discharge.
Also has the added benefit of being usb c rechargeable with a built in cable rather than a barrel jack. Genius idea imo

Thank you for your creative idea! It sounds intriguing but definitely requires some technical knowledge and skill. Please be aware that such modifications could void the Toniebox warranty. Nevertheless, great thinking-thanks for sharing!

@@cellonic to be honest, it's not the bad. I ended up taking apart a spare small single bay 18650 charger and only keeping the spring loaded tabs, so I won't have to solder the battery, connected each end of the battery to the part where you plug in the battery with dupont leads, and left a USB c cable out of the box. Works great! Ended up using an acebeam USB c battery for it
True it does void the warranty, but my battery cam doa, and tonie basically told me to go fuck myself (ordered from amazon) and I still needed the box, so I just did this. It's great because it's relatively easy to do, it's a nice capacity boost, and you can use good ol' USB c

Merci pour le tuto. Très pratique. J'ai réussi à changer la batterie de la Tonie Box que j'ai cassé après la main de Musiala à la dernière minute du match Bayern Freiburg.

Is there a way to test if the battery is bad or not charging? We've just received our 2nd brand new tonie box where the battery doesn't charge. They keep sending us new ones and I'm wondering if we can replace the battery on the old ones to get them working or if it's not worth it since the problem might be on the board and not the battery.

      Hello @PumpkinDog33,
sorry for the late response. First of all, thank you for your question.
That's really bad luck that the first and second Toniebox can't be charged.
Unfortunately, there are several possibilities why the Toniebox is not working:
      - Check when unpacking whether any plastic protective covers are over the Toniebox or charging station
      - check the charging cable for damage such as a broken cable
      - dirty contact (which should not be the case with a new device)
      - Battery could be deeply discharged, then it takes 10-20min until the battery starts to charge
If you have checked all these things, it may of course be a defective battery, but there is no guarantee for it. As you rightly say, it can also be a problem with the device itself.
I hope your Toniebox is working by now, if not i hope we can help you with the answer.
