Good video, but one funny thing about UA-cam reviews is it seems like nobody understands what aperture blades are used for. It has nothing to do with the bokeh wide open. 100% of its function is reducing how octagon shaped the bokeh is on light orbs when stopped down. That's it. The blades are literally not visible in any form when wide open. 3 or 23 blades would have no difference at F2.8.
I literally can't wait for the delivery date of this lens, as soon as it comes I'm buying the canon R7, we will coooooook with this combination, thank you for this amazing video 🤙
@@VideoMakerTwist I really love the way you reviewed this lens, keep it up with the good work, no I live Lebanon but I ordered it from Ebay, set to be delivered next month 🙌
Bought this lens to try out on an R50 and returned it. Wasn’t a fan of how it rendered. I’ll continue to use my 17-55 when I need a zoom in this general range. Bring on the Sigma RF primes.
I found the lens at its widest focal length (18mm) to be sharp in the middle, but the corners were soft even stopped down. Longer focal lengths through 50mm were soft wide open.
@@keyonlewis7574The EF-S 17-55 is an APSC / crop sensor lens that you can adapt with the EF to RF adapter to your R50. The lens also has IS which is nice on the R50 which doesn’t have stabilization.
but isn't the sigma 18-50mm a crop lens made for crop sensor cameras..??? so the effective focal range should be still close to or exactly 18-50mm?? I'm confused now
or is it that the written focal length of even crop lenses still behave the same way with FF lenses on crop sensors? so it still needs to to be multiplied?
If you use this crop lens on a crop camera, the focal range is exactly 18-50mm in terms of how it behaves on that camera. However, compared to a full-frame camera, it will feel like a 28-80mm lens due to the crop factor. So, it's 18-50mm physically, but the field of view is narrower than on a full-frame camera.
Super dissapointed that it didn't work on my Komodo. It didn't autofocus, and the Aputure Control in camera just didn't communicate well. Hopefully it fixed soon.

You're welcome! Did you check the link for the lens in my description? I thought it's available to ship. Are you from the US?

Ohhh fiinally lenses for my almost 2 years old R7!!! And 10-18mm f2.8 and I'll be happy!
I have r50, and I think this thing with gimbal will do the work for videography. What is your opinion?

Interesting to hear this. Can you elaborate a bit more about what you didn't like precisely? I think it could help others make their decision.
i have a R50 wtih the 50mm F1.8 was taking about geting a zoom lense. is the 17-55 a full frame or crop lense, RF or EF?
I found the lens at its widest focal length (18mm) to be sharp in the middle, but the corners were soft even stopped down. Longer focal lengths through 50mm were soft wide open.
I also didn’t like the way the bokeh looked. The stills I take with the 17-55 just look better to my eye. Just one guy’s opinion though.

Wait for Tamron 17-70...
But it's not even announced yet...
yup tamron will announce it eventually

I dont quite understand. So on my apsc camera is this a 18-50mm? Or will it be like zoomed in?
If you put this lens on a full-frame camera, it will be less zoomed in. For Full frame it would be 18-50mm and for APC-S x1.6 28,8-80mm lens.
how about r8 + rf2870f2.8
So this lens would not work on a R6?
It will work, but R6 has a full frame senzor, and the lens is APSC. So on the R6 you will end up with lower resolution photos.
option lens ultimate for canon r50
Having to turn off ibis on a tripod isn’t really a thing anymore on most camera systems
Instead buy sigma 18-35 ef f1.8 lens and use it with ring mount
Great vid :)
Here I compare the 24-70 f2.8 lenses from Canon (EF vs RF) ua-cam.com/video/uOaRjn2PoWw/v-deo.html
Dude just use a gimbal. Who uses image stabilization? Waste of a feature.
Everyone who does not want to carry awkward , big and heavy piece of metal around everywhere they go!
No reason to make this a 10 minute video lmfao
This is not TikTok dopamine.
