She sings this song as if she is Eponine in Les Miz, full of pathos and a lot of Uzo influence. Kinda the way I always thought this song should be song.
This is the most beautiful, honest version of this song. I love Jesus, loved Him since I was a girl, then I walked away and someone I loved brought me back to Him, but that someone died and although I knew he went to Heaven, my heart cried, "can you take me with you?" But Jesus went before both of us and that someone is in Jesus' arms, waiting for me, just like Jesus was waiting for me before that someone.
Where are you going? Where are you going? Can you take me with you? For my hand is cold And needs warmth Where are you going? Far beyond where the horizon lies Where the horizon lies And the land sinks into mellow blueness Oh please, take me with you Let me skip the road with you I can dare myself I can dare myself I'll put a pebble in my shoe And watch me walk (watch me walk) I can walk and walk! (I can walk!) I shall call the pebble Dare I shall call the pebble Dare We will talk, we will talk together We will talk () about walking Dare shall be carried And when we both have had enough I will take him from my shoe, singing: "Meet your new road!" Then I'll take your hand Finally glad Finally glad That you are here By my side By your side By your side By your side
A good singer may be able to throw her/his voice around , be really versatile . A great singer can also do that , but know when it's appropriate . If you watch the original cast , or even the 2011 cast , They didn't get versatile . They knew it was a song of humility . She's asking Jesus to take the Journey with him . It's also a song of harmony . Please , if you perform , know when it's time to let the voice loose and know when it's time to obey the song .
I really wanted to like this and I suppose I can appreciate it dramatically, but her focus on that aspect injured the musicality of this otherwise beautiful piece.
I disagree. It’s theatre, it’s about performing and connecting with the piece. She represented it perfectly. The acting is more important than the singing cause it is supposed to tell a story that the audience came to see.

Yes with pathos. It should be vulnerable and by a non actor. Not Uzo. It's my favourite song in the show - it wouldn't be if it was too strong.
This clip is something I come back to when I need extra motivation in life. Thank you!
The purple lighting adds to the melancholy of this scene.

Oh, I got tears in my eyes, a tightness in my throat. Marisha Castle has such a beautiful voice, filled with depth and feeling.
That Judas is a real buzzkill.
Oh, and the lady has an amazing voice.
Hard to believe that Judas was actually one of Jesus' closest followers.
Where are you going?
Where are you going?
Can you take me with you?
For my hand is cold
And needs warmth
Where are you going?
Far beyond where the horizon lies
Where the horizon lies
And the land sinks into mellow blueness
Oh please, take me with you
Let me skip the road with you
I can dare myself
I can dare myself
I'll put a pebble in my shoe
And watch me walk (watch me walk)
I can walk and walk!
(I can walk!)
I shall call the pebble Dare
I shall call the pebble Dare
We will talk, we will talk together
We will talk () about walking
Dare shall be carried
And when we both have had enough
I will take him from my shoe, singing:
"Meet your new road!"
Then I'll take your hand
Finally glad
Finally glad
That you are here
By my side
By your side
By your side
By your side
Thanks for the lyrics.

Impressive! Great depth and soul in the lead voice.
You are one talented lady! (From a fellow pro who happens to follow your mother's blog.)

Beautiful, a transfixing performance!
Lovely! Way to go, Marisha!

Right, it's overdone. Like overacting. I stopped it halfway through.
I’m unfamiliar with the show what female character sings this?
Crimson Kay everyone is concidered ensemble except Jesus and Judas but the one who sang it on broadway was uzo
She’s usually called the By My Side soloist and sometimes given the first name of the actor playing the role.
Mary Magdalene.
overwrought

I don't believe them.
too heavy emotionally --- it lost its musicality
I agree with you. It's a beautiful song on it's own. It doesn't need the theatrics.

@@joshnixon6199 I get what you're saying but I don't like it. She's staggering around like she's drunk. But we both have our opinions.
David G. Theatre doesnt need....theatrics
