- Follow along with Maddi as she demonstrates the three main exercises we use to train our horses to respond to pressure. Horses need to properly give to pressure in all situations including, riding, training, and safety out in pasture. There are many exercises to teach your horse how to give to pressure but at the Bar SZ Ranch, our favorites are "Head Down," "Leading by the Tail," and "Turn and Go."

If the horse knows you're there and knows you its ok
For trail riding, there's something called "tailing ". When going up steep hills, the person dismounts to get their weight off the horse, holds one rein, and walks behind the horse, holding onto the tail to help pull them up the hill. It's all about the training.
