    I stumbled on to James on a late no looking a popping clips. He was giving a quick tutorial of shoulder isolations in conjunction with waving and cobra. I saw his range of motion and was dumbfounded. Anyway I could not find the video again until two weeks ago on a Saturday and I saw RIP in the comments. The man inspired me to get my ish together and stop moping around and start popping and other physical activities again. The man was a true talent and very humble beyond his years. I learned that I can no longer take things for granted. No more talking about practicing just get up and do it because tomorrow is never promised. I left messages on a lot of videos that I found of James encouraging others to upload clips of waving and dancing to show support and to pass this knowledge on to others. It hurts me to learn of the passing any OG's with so much knowledge.

    Now lets hear those " he repeats the same moves " remarks now! This was totally unique. Im sorry for your loss John. May his memory live forever in you heart.

    • @Nemz
      @Nemz 9 років тому +1

      Actually, not to be that guy but yeah he does repeat moves. The theme is unique but the moves are largely the same. If you can't see it then you haven't paid real close attention to his dancing. It's not bad cause he makes it work but this video contains largely the same moves with little variation here and there. I still liked the video though but it's clear he repeated moves here

    • @PoppinLou
      @PoppinLou 9 років тому +7

      Aundre Jeanz That is sort of how John works. If you haven't watched his 'Creating space' waving tutorial which is on his channel, I recommend you go watch it. His waving technique is the same by the looks of it but when it comes to the concepts which he creates it's the change in variations that count the most when it comes to visuals. So in this video you can see he will do one thing, then repeat it but change it in variation. Besides, for a lot of poppers dancing to a simple track like this isn't easy, due to the tempo and limited choice of sounds, so waving is one of his best options for this track. I've watched PJ for years, and have noticed the repeating when he became incredibly unique, however I don't get bored of it, because it shows that he can take his concepts and manipulate it in different ways, even when we see it as something potentially the same. People personally just need to be a bit more open to John and just look with a bit more detail. Also to add. Most people in the popping game today pop almost the same, a lot of people do Boogaloo and do the same moves too, within the same style. John may do the same drills over and over, but tell me this, who looks like John? All you have to do, to see that John is unique besides the repeating is by looking a Juste Debout Popping Prelim video, which lasts half an hour long. Most people will do exactly the same shit, of which mostly derives from Boogaloo style. At least that's how I see it. Then, when you see a professional enter the stage in a prelim video, you then notice why they always far in the events, because they can either execute the same style everyone is doing better and can just dance and not worry so much about style, or look way more unique than everyone else. Sorry for a long paragraph but, lets just be open to John bit more :D

    • @Nemz
      @Nemz 9 років тому +3

      I'm a fan of his, I like his style but the original commenter is blind to the reality of Johns creative recycling. I don't mind that he repeats moves, no one is creative enough to have a vast arsenal of moves and never repeat or have signature movies. I appreciate Johns clinical and precise movement that's why I watch him. His movement shows me the extent of human body manipulation to sound. If I were to judge him based on just the act of dancing, it will be low but for the reasons mentioned above, I rate him highly.

    • @PoppinLou
      @PoppinLou 9 років тому +1

      Aundre Jeanz I understand man :D

    • @mikemurphymagic
      @mikemurphymagic 9 років тому +10

      He repeats his moves. But he repeats his moves like a skilled writer repeats her words. Just as a writer puts her words into unique sentences, so does John. He has a vast vocabulary of precise moves, and he articulately mixes them up to tell a unique story each time, and with different emotions. Personally, I like recognizing a familiar move or concept - it's another feeling I feel when I watch his dance. And anyone's dance, really. It's amazing! Michael Jackson and Gene Kelly and (insert dancer here) repeated a ton of moves too from song to song. But it's all in the mix. The words are repeated, but the sentences and paragraphs and concepts make it a great read, and in the same way, a great dance.

    Another great creation john. Sorry for your lost and prayers with you and his family. Your style is unique and always fresh as usual. For those comments from the haters, they say you dont have soul in your dance, hmmm the last time I checked soul in dancing is becoming one with the music and letting the music move you. I think that every performance youve done and that ive seen, youve always moved with the soul of the music and never missed a beat at the low and high point and the break in between. So all you haters need to go study dance 101 and then come back and apologize for being ignorant. John specialize in POPPING, hince the name, which is hitting key points hard with a smooth ending. Damn I dont dance much anymore but still love the art of it. Keep up the good work john. My son jailon says what up. :-)
