I just bought a GM factory prepped with the B&W Turnover Ball system and added the companion 5th wheel. It's great, the only caveat being B&W says you can't use it with a turning pin box. Had I known, I would have went for a slider hitch. They say the Puck Companion hitch will work with a turning pin box, but the Turnover Ball can't take the pivot load.

That’s a pretty slick adapter. I do wonder about the height because on the Facebook groups guys are constantly complaining about their fifth wheels being nose high.
I can almost kick myself for not ordering the puck system for my 2022. I was being tight and wanted to save the extra $500 it would have cost. I don’t have a fifth wheel or gooseneck and probably never will but I still wish I would have got it. At the time I said I’ll just do the B&W turnover ball system, which is nice system but man if I had it to do over again I would have got the puck system.

I like your videos, but I would love to see the process and not just the aftermath. I have a new truck with that puck system and have never used a gooseneck or fifth wheel.

Did you Loctite the carriage bolts? The two on each corner of the bracket assembly. My father has that assembly and said the bolts will work loose.

I've never had them come loose, they have anti spin nuts on them and I do check them often, but never used loctite

@@automotiveinquiries9673 I guess the nuts are now anti spin type. I will check dads to see if the are. If not, I will buy some. Thanks!

2020 Chevy with 5th wheel prep. I’ve only towed travel trailers. Looking at a 5th wheel. The owner including the hitch. How do I know if I buy the the adjustable frame in the video if that hitch will fit on it? I’m totally a greenhorn and will watch your other videos. Thanks.

Where is your video on the gooseneck hitch when Chevrolet has this on a truck? I don't need fifth wheel but I will need a gooseneck hitch and I'm not sure what this option does for me? Is it like the BW turnover?

My 24 Chevy custom didn’t have a fifth wheel prep system. What a joke. They all should come that way. So I had to do some drilling lol.

Ordering a 24 2500 lt my question is when you get the puck system do you automatically get the spray in bed liner or do you have to add it

So the way chevy seems to be packing it, you will get the Spray in liner also. Unless they change it for 2025.

Would this system work with a hitch system that utilizes the bed rail system? I currently have a bed rail system since my Ram doesn’t have the puck system. Would my current hitch utilize this system if I were to switch to a Chevy? Or where can I find out if it will? Thanks for the info

Yes, if you have a standard rail hitch, and moved to a chevy or gmc that has the pucks, you can buy this curt Adapter and use any hitch that uses above bed rails. Glad to help

I looked at those to keep my patriot hitch, but the height that it added was bad thing for me. the 2017 already sat to high and made the camper way nose high, adding more would have made it worse.
Thankfully the 2020+ got lot lowered in the rear compared to the 17-19

I heard a comment from TFL which surprised me as per the GM trucks and their puck location based on if its the so called standard length bed or the long bed. They claimed that the standard ( or call it a short bed if you will ) HD trucks have the puck system mounted behind the center line of the axle about 4 inches, where as the long bed has its puck system mounted on the axle center line. If this is true ( that is where you can do some measuring on both the GM and Ford to compare ) , that certainly is a bit odd from a geometry and weight transfer standpoint. Now I can see why they may have done that due to a short bed being crunched up with room between the back of the cab and the fifth wheel hitch pin point for purposes of turning. Definitely a full length 8 foot bed is the more desirable design for having the proper dimensions to tow a fifth wheel holiday trailer. How the Ford vs the GM truck compares back of cab to rear axle center line as I would imagine all of the big three pickup brands have slight physical differences in those ways as well as rear axle centerline to rear of receiver hitch for conventional ball trailers. Like highway tractors, so many variables of a setup with steer axle set forward or back, bumper to back of cab length, wheel base and so on.
