  • For today's inflight entertainment, a bit of history from 2002! Greg Hamerton (paragliding instructor) and Johan Anderson (hang gliding champion) share a common love of flight. Together they set off on an aerial adventure, in search of thermals in the mountains of the Western Cape, South Africa. The hang glider is rigid, heavy and fast. The paraglider is agile, soft and light. Who will go the furthest?
    This is a Fresh Air Crew production. Thanks to director Nic Good for granting permission to share this video. Music provided by the infamous Peter Prukl and the Famous Roaches. Voiceover by the legendary Jeff Ayliffe.

    Oh my God! I've been searching for this video for so many years! :O Just to watch it again and bring memories. I've seen it many many years ago (somewhere on TV, with Polish lector) before I even thought that some day I will fly paragliders (I was 14yrs old and saving money for sailplane flying course - which I made in 2006). But it was enought to hide this picture of a PG wing somewhere deep in my mind. It was growing, very slow but consequent. A wings in backpack, an airplane hangar on my back. After 2014 when I got my PG papers (and leaved sailplanes) and already knowing what flybubble is (and you in consequence) I didn't know that world is so small and it's you in that movie (otherwise it would be much easyier to find it by my self) :D. Thanks Greg! What a nice day it is :).

    Greg - I love your channel , inspired me to finally learn PG! I think it would be highly amusing for you to start posting videos of you HG and talking about how they differ. Compare and contrast the latest equipment and how the two sports compare today.

    I literally bought an Airwave Sport based on Gregs review of it. It changed my perception of what flying is and how to feel the air. It was a revolutionary wing.

    Paraglider are superior to hang gliders in every way. Until you are in the air... 😁

    • @Vl7248
      @Vl7248 3 роки тому

      I used to think the same for years. But lately the advantages are shrinking. When it’s blowing 17+mph no pg will want to be in the air.

    I'm getting into paramotoring. I like how I can fly low to the ground and simply climb when I want to. I don't need another vehicle to take me to the top of a mountain. Once there, I turn off my engine and I'm a paraglider...Sweet. It's all good though.
