    This is pretty much the going to be my "Holy Grail" of remaining plugins to purchase ... I've got a few of them thanks to your suggestion, DuFFuL.. I've been blown away so far and in my opinion -YOU are the authority on plugins. I am still trying to figure out why you don't have over 1 million subscribers, my friend. 🤘 I am so glad I've found this channel...
    Your content is superb!!!
    Cheers.

      @@mdwayne741 hahaha wow thanks man! You always have such kind words. Subs are slowly going up and it’s good because it makes me feel like I earned every single one of them. But honestly that’s not why I’m here doing this. I love it!

      *I am definitely letting my "friends" (who play guitar)know about your UA-cam channel... I am not sure that they know what you can actually do with a DAW and great plugins -they're still in the dark ages when it comes to this stuff. You don't necessarily have to have an expensive traditional amp to get great guitar tone.
      I installed my Iron Stronghold MIDI packs yesterday.... they're soooo good! I sent Devin an email and let him know that it is because of you that I will be a returning customer.

      @@DuFFuL 😂... like I mentioned to you earlier...this is my passion. (The deals were really good, as well.) I can definitely afford it. We live modestly for the most part and it enables me to splurge on the stuff that really makes me happy 😊. But I sincerely thank you for helping to make my hobby even more fun.
      *Devin James is definitely a great dude...he took the time to personally thank me for my purchase. Nobody in today's world does that stuff -a generated email is usually what you get. It really meant a lot to me to know that he TRULY appreciates the support!
      *My wife's passion is to make jewelry... It makes both of us happier to have something to do that we both love.
      I actually purchased Trivium drums the other day from Bogren Digital yesterday... 😂...I think that they sound great! I'm also falling in love with The Modern Metal EZX.. I can now see why it was so high on your EZDrummer3 expansion list.
      You're truly a legend, DuFFuL.

    Lots of cool stuff there. This is mainly what I've been using this year.
    Guitar
    - Neural DSP Petrucci (my first Neural and mainly picked it for the variety of tones and features. This really was an 'X' plugin to begin with)
    - Neural DSP - Gojira (love the different vibe the pre amp pedals provide)
    - Audio Assault - various, but fond of RVXX and Berry (don't really know how to make best use of AA plugins)
    - Amplitube 5 Max (if I want a specific tone, I go to Tonelab)
    - McRocklin Suite (currently using the trial and quite like the wide variety of sometimes crazy tones)
    Bass (haven't played bass that much recently)
    - Audio Assault - Duality (find it handy to just bang on and play using presets)
    - Kuassa - Cerberus (got recommended by some folks in the BassBuzz crew, it's got some good sounds for general music fun)
    - Neural DSP - Dark Glass (kinda wish I bought Parallax)
    Drums
    - EZdrummer 3
    - Addictive Drums 2 (I've been learning finger drumming and use it mainly for that)
    Other
    I've got lots of other stuff, mostly as bundles with hardware or free stuff. I haven't really explored that much but I did have a go with Monster Soundscapes that you used in one of your videos.

      Wow man! Thanks heaps for commenting such a cool list. Couple of things I'm going to have to check out now. I really appreciate it. Especially the Kuassa Cerberus! Never heard of that one and now I'm curious!
      Audio Assault is a funny thing because they can sound damn amazing on their own but in a mix, they take a bit of work. Well, that's what I've found anyway.
      Going to check out the McRocklin Suite now as well. Always looking for new stuff! Thank again!!

      @DuFFuL pleasure, you've given me heaps of info and advice either in videos or comments.
      Bradley Hall put me onto McRocklin Suite. It's got a CLAP option as well as VST in your DAW. Don't know much about that format other than it's supposed to be efficient and less intensive on CPU. Ola did a demo about a year ago. He liked it but I think more for overall variety and inspiration than straight up metal tones.

    A couple more interesting non-banal plugins that I like:
    - dearVR MICRO for adding a bit of binaural positioning depth to the instruments - seems it's free now;
    - Black Rooster Audio VPRE-73 - vintage preamp that does some subtle, but quite outstanding work with bass and highs harmonics, a beautiful touch to the mix.

    Couldn't agree more on the uninspired plugin rehashes of the past. There is a lot of innovation in the tech simulation side, but the resulting sound itself is arguably lacking innovation, and mostly looking into emulating the past, not into the future exploration. The very past (mid- to late XX century) that was itself very innovative and revolutionary (just take for example the invention of guitar overdrive and distortion, or any effects or techniques). 90s to early 2000s is were the analogue sound school peaked IMO, and afterwards it's more of same variations in the digital sims realm (often sounding worse or more artificial than older analogue).

    • @DuFFuL
      @DuFFuL  13 днів тому +1

      100% man. I think now that they are just ruining the tones by over polishing them and its starting to sound unnatural. They seem to be chasing the tones that are on modern albums which, in my opinion sound horrible compared to the tones of old. I am so over the overprocessed tones of the modern metal albums and I'm really craving something like the first Korn album or Burn my eyes by Machine Head. Right now, I'd even go for some Death Magnetic tones. Just that absolute raw brutal dry guitar.
      One of my favorite mixed albums is In Utero from Nirvana. Sit and listen to that on the headphones and it feel like you are sitting in the jam room with the band. I love it!!

    • @greymatter800
      @greymatter800 13 днів тому +1

      @@DuFFuL Absolutely. I would say the majority of the best records of the 90s sound amazing (so many of them!). Burn my eyes by Machine Head is in my all-time favorites list, both for sound and for music. I would say probably around 1991-2004 was the golden age (IMO), and then a big part of production went down in sonic quality, with some exceptions.
