Great work on getting those Aidan. I have recently started doing Hornby retro model trains in OO gauge as I did the R825 Tunnel Freight and I recently got an eBay haul for £35 and a Lima Train Set for £50 that was my first ever train set from 1986 that started it all for me. Exceptions aside, I will be covering OO gauge from 1979 to 1997/1996 at a push as that was my favourite era of mostly BR stuff. Be sure to check out the train set I did at the weekend if Hornby nostalgia would interest you mate. If not, keep up the great work on this channel buddy.
    All the best
    Peter.

I clicked on this expecting a casual review of a recent model train haul but what I got was a surprisingly high-effort and concise video! Very efficient presentation; kudos.
I very much support your stance against the ridiculous price gouging that happens in secondhand markets. As someone who has collected a good bit of Hornby Thomas over the years but lives in the U.S., I have to put up with no end of this nonsense.
I’m always amazed (and totally jealous!!!) of the STEALS I see people in the UK walking away with from model shops or local meets with items that I’d have to be paying easily £7-£15+ for… and that’s to make no mention of shipping and handling. I’m going to have the chance to be in London for just a few short days at the beginning of Summer and need to plan a route so I can hit up some model shops or meets that may be going on while I’m there. Need to look for some recommendations online.
    But I digress; good video!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed this episode. I often hear that it can be very costly in the states when collecting the Hornby range of Thomas. I can only imagine that will rise as time goes on. Once again thank you so much for your words of support 😊👍🏼

Decent range of additions there Aidan, I certainly have had some bargains recently but I have spent a lot more money for them, the main bargain for me was 6 mk3 coaches in the intercity swallow which go very nicely with my recently purchased hornby buffered HST power cars, I also picked up a hornby class 50 in Network south east which is weathered, a bachmann A2 in the LNER Green, a heljan Falcon which is also weathered and in the first livery that that locomotive wore when it was running and a bachmann and deco station building, fair to say I have spent more than you but they were all very reasonable, the HST pack being the only new item I have purchased recently, keep,up the great work Aidan.

Hi David. You certainly have picked up quite a bit there. I do like the Scenecraft Art deco Station modules, although I have a soft spot for Art Deco architecture.

I 1000% agree that second hand prices have gone mad not just on a well known auction site but also the retailers. Unfortunately my local model shop has followed suit with prices higher than new. I have no idea how a young child can get into this hobby the prices are well and truly out of their reach the retailers and manufactures are focusing on a ever shrinking older customer base with no thought on how to get younger people into the hobby it can only end in tears. I'm lucky I have most things I want if I need anything I think long and hard first but more often than not just think it's not worth it.

Thank you for getting in touch. Sadly I agree that many retailers are in fact following suit with the rising prices of second hand items. Luckily there are still some out there that are sticking to their reasonable pricing and helping people in and joining the hobby. Thank 😊👍🏼
