In the midst of the rainy season's unstable weather ☂️, we found the right time to explore the Yamame River in the northernmost part of Niigata.
I went to the northern part of Niigata, the neighboring prefecture of my home base, to fish for landlocked salmon.
This time, I had a rare three-person fishing trip with Mr. Wada, the designer of TONEDTROUT, and Mr. Mizutani from the Gifu factory of rootwat socks.
The most ideal beauty, topography, slope, stream condition, and also the habitat of landlocked salmon.
We were 100% satisfied with the terrain of the river, but the size of the fish was not consistent.
I also met and talked with an 85 year old local bait fisherman who was the only fisherman in the area for over 30-40 years! We talked about the area and the local trout.
Although the size of the trout was disappointing, it was still meaningful to visit and explore the area and search for trout with my own feet.
I was able to increase my experience and knowledge again.
The journey will continue in 2021.
