We used to be able to buy those Handmade labels with our names printed on them at fabric stores, back when we all sewed. I am trying to give away my important treasures now, while I am healthy and alive because stuff gets overlooked when you die. I have given a lot away, it is nice to visit my stuff in a new home, family and friends take what they can use or want and I sell stuff no one needs. This was a great haul, thanks for sharing your tips!!!
@@dianev6180 I remember them at stores too. They never had my name but plenty of Mary, Sue, Ann, Margaret, Barbara, etc. Then Grandma, Mom, Mommy, Mama, Granny, etc. They fascinated me as a kid when my mom would take me with her to the fabric store.
OH, no way! The amount of time I spent at Jo-anns with my mom as a kid, I can't believe I don't remember seeing them! I love this concept of moving stuff on while we're here... we all do just have so much STUFF, and it'd be nice to know the stuff that meant a lot to us is living on! ❤️
Chan Luu - primarily known for her jewelry but I have some great clothing pieces from her. They are often embroidered, made in India. Fun fact - she was a frequent customer at Ron Herman in the early 2000s and I used to help her shop quite a bit.
JEWELRY! That was it! OMG my memory snapped right back into place as soon as you said it! How cool that you worked at Ron Herman! Ron Herman/Fred Segal was always my "I can't afford anything, but I love to wander" stop that I used to make any time I was out west for work - I can't believe it's gone now. It feels like such a gaping maw in the world of fashion. That's where I fell in love with selvedge denim and Dries van Noten's work! I'll bet you've got some STORIES from working there in the early 2000s!
@@JMSquaredVintage I definitely have stories! It was a great time to be there. The funny thing is that Chan Luu loved Dries (my fave too). I know I sold her some. I left after I had my son and became a stay at home mom and started selling on ebay. I now work at Erewhon in the health and beauty department, the energy there is the closest thing I've experienced to Ron Herman/Fred Segal back in the day.
I love that you saved a hand knit sweater. I sew (not knit) a lot of my own clothes and I would be so much happier if my peices are someday resold rather than in a landfill!
Right?! I see stuff like that in the bins and my heart breaks a little bit - ESPECIALLY in condition like this one.. i mean, it's FLAWLESS. I love that I get to be its steward for a short time and pass it on to someone who's going to give it the love and wear it deserves. It's important that we're doing what we can to slow the waste stream of fast fashion, but keeping treasures like this in circulation? I consider it a moral imperative!
Doo.Ri was a Vogue CFDA Fashion Fund finalist years ago, when that program was a Big Deal and had her own luxury line for a while. I think it folded, but she was minimalist cool back in the day.
YESSSSSSS... I just did a google of her designs, and i'm totally remembering her now! I love her stuff - now I want to find a piece or two for myself! Sidenote, I'm now down the rabbit hole with this year's winners, and it looks like Todd Oldham's collaborating with his nephew (a current winner...) I'll take any way we can get him designing again!
Oooooh! That's right! That would have been so cool to see them play all together again. I saw them a few times back in the day, and MAN do they put on a great show - talk about energy....
I am so glad I watch your videos because I always learn something new…I picked up two POL tops based solely on style thinking they were a fast fashion brand. Thanks for educating me because I listed super low even though the pieces are amazing!
AMAZING! I am pretty sure that they are, in a way, a fast fashion or boutique brand, but definitely in the higher end space. The quality is quite nice and a lot of their pieces go for a pretty penny on the resale market!! When in doubt, use your gut and check comps!
I really love the Oak + Fort stuff I've seen while thrifting. The quality is nice. I have a chocolate brown soft faux leather wrap top for sale right now.
Their stuff is really nicely made! The name jumped out in my mind when I saw it, but I just wasn't sure how they'd perform - Glad I gave it a try! Thank you so much for sharing your experience - 'm sure your stuff will move soon - as I always say, there's a buyer for EVERYTHING out there!
It's not so much that I have a problem listing them - I'm VERY consistent with that - it's just that I've had a few HUGE hauls recently, and they've stacked up! 🤣🤣🤣
Wouldn't that be a delightful full-circle moment?! This cardigan is absolutely flawless... I've actually already got it listed (with the measurements listed - looks to be roughly a size small or medium). Here's the link if you want to take a closer peek... poshmark.com/listing/HANDMADE-Vintage-Cream-Cable-Knit-Pointelle-Sweater-Cardigan-Sz-Small-66c91704943ddb32dbfb3b8d
Nice haul :-) , I watch quite a bit of runway shows, and have been seeing a lot of shiny, glossy ( think latex) pieces. I think you found quite a few wearable pieces that fit that aesthetic. Lets see if they move fast.
So strange, but who knows! I haven't found a piece in a while before these, so maybe something's shifted in the market... I'll keep my eyes on them for sure!
Hi! It can be saturated, so it's starting to fall into the Zara category of my being pretty selective as to what I pick up from there. But in the interest of moving what you've got - try beefing up your listings with more keywords if you can - they can help your listings get viewed! In a saturated market, it's usually just a numbers game...
Omg I want that wrapped white blouse you showed with the target collaboration. Do you have it listed yet and what size is it? I also like the navy cardigan. Is that one listed?
The Kika Vargas one? It’s not listed yet, but if you’re interested, I can jump it to the front of line. It’s a 4x…if that’s not your size, just search “Kika Vargas for target scallop” and a BUNCH should pop up. Lots available in a variety of sizes. It’s so cute, right?!
I did! I couldn’t find one online that had everything I wanted, so I just made my own, and it’s kind of organically grown to what it is today, as I dialed what kind of info I want to track.
Generally, not before I show them in the hauls (there are always exceptions to the rule, but generally, they come home, get checked into inventory, I film the haul, THEN I start the cleaning/photographing/listing process)- After the hauls, yes - most get washed or a solid sanitizing steam...or a dry clean. I'm not super concerned about bugs - if anything's coming to the bins from the stores, it's been cleaned, and if there's any kind of cleanliness issue in a bin (funky smell, etc.), I just avoid the bin and the adjacent ones entirely. I've only seen bugs once in a bins location (this was back east), and the staff was notified and the bin was taken off the floor immediately. I'd guess that goodwill takes bug risks pretty seriously, as an infestation can take out an entire store for days! To be totally honest, the only bugs I really worry about at the bins are Mosquitoes...🤣🤣🤣

@@JMSquaredVintage I still have a handful "Handmade by Diane" in my sewing basket! It was rare to find Diane, Diana was way more popular. LOL
Pol is for sure a boutique brand. I have one sweater never worn but I have had it for years and it’s not selling, I would never pick one up again
Oh no! Well, hopefully this one moves a little quicker (and yours speeds on up out the door!)
Everything can sell for the right price lol

Curious what you use to keep track of inventory.
