@hallattn and all landed with hulls intact and zero fatalities. Qantas is the only airline that has been flying for 96 years with zero peacetime hull losses and no aviation related deaths.
This was an amazing bit of flying and teamwork. Richard de Crespigny has only ever been recognized by his peers and I really don't understand why he was not nominated of an Order of Australia. The A380 remains my favourite plane to fly on.
The crew of Qantas 32 are heroes, especially I consider Richard de Crespigny a true legend, this is world-class crewwork and the feats of de Crespigny is simply legendary IMHO 🤩😍😇😎 He should be Sir. Richard de Crespigny 😇
Ahh, the perfect video to fall asleep to. Thank you UA-cam for the recommendation Also flight is considered the worlds safest mode of transport until a tiny little detail missed by even the best of the best is over looked
One of my favourite documentaries but also one of the most dangerous & scariest plane disasters for passengers and crew as qf32 explodes but landed safely back at the airport in Singapore where they took off from that day
Too much automation and complex instrumentation. A marvel of engineering none the less. What can we say about the skills and calmness of the pilots? Qantas has a reputation for having the best pilots in the world, their safety record speaks for itself
I think planes should have rear view mirrors like cars so pilots can see the engines. Like some of the new cars with are just cameras so only a small lens is needed.
I’ve Been thinking about it that same way buh maybe because of aerodynamic system, you knw plane must be designed in an angular shape to travel faster through thick atmosphere due to weight so any disturb shape could barley help it fly
I love how they use the Boeing autopilot disconnect sound in an Airbus. Edit: how they also used the fire push button when the indicator showed no engine fire.
I always hear Dustin Hoffman's voice when Qantas is talked about, although he wasn't strictly correct. This was an amazing show of their skills though.
my parents were on this flight. My older sister and my parents were coming home back to Sydney after visiting our grandparents. My mother was 3 months pregnant with me when she boarded this plane. She told me "I had lost all hope; I thought you were going to die before you were born." I don't know what she means, but does this mean I was on this flight?
I can answer that... These are the last three sentences of the book he wrote about the incident: "Although Harry was checking me, he was undertaking training, so it was David who determined whether I passed or failed. The outcome? I didn't pass.
Too much of suspense and panic been created. One question for the script of this movie: How can you use the Engine Fire Extinguisher for Turbine O/H( Internal Fire ) Engine Fire Extinguisher is used for external fire.( Nacelle area fire )
Not at all. 40 years of flying experience including 10 in the military for captain De Crespigany ; the result of this safe landing has nothing to do with Alan Joyce or his leadership, but of the 5 wise experienced pilots that flew it.
CringeY Cheese funny how Straya is such a materialistic country and we cop flack But true to the Aus way double and triple check everything nowadays, we particularly lead the world in science medicine, very proud how this crew handled it Guess we aren't entirely a bogan burnout nation "Straya mate" 👌😊
………CRM was greatly there on this flight deck. Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. Aviate by the PF, Capt Richard de Crespigny. Navigate by the FO. Communicate all round, including the two Check Captains’. Summation: saved 269 lives’, by landing safely back in Singapore………
"Simulator from hell", that's what the whole incident looked like, but obviously it happened in real life. That's also why it's important to train many different scenarious with a simulator, because this kind of an incident definitely can happen, even though it's very unlikely to happen to you.
Important counterpoint to the stereotype of pilots in developing countries being poorly trained. These guys did a great job of remaining cool under pressure , must've been a terrible shock. Same goes for the cabin crew, too.
it was never answered, at least here, why such a piece of pipe could have been manufactured, went to several stages of quality control ( it did, didn't it?). So, even back then, and not only with Boeing, quality control was and still is, a big problem. And the maker of those pipes? Does not deliver anymore,is gone bankrupt, has ceased to exist... So we cant hold anyone responsible.. The maker of those pipes? Just opened shop und a different name, and it is business as usual.. Must have been a local manufacturer. Because if it was a -Chinese -, we would have heard for sure, broad and wide and all over the place. How shoddy they work. And how their lousy work nearly brought down this oh so super, big, and safe plane.
This channel covers "Lewis" at football games. Why you did this airplane video, nobody know. MELODRAMATIC DRAMA QUEEN title of "aircraft coming apart mid air" is too much to swallow. Thumbs down
@@MarniTurboHoarder maybe watch the Mentour Pilot video on the same incident, he is able to explain the facts in a way that people can learn from what happened, without a exaggerated deep voice and dramatic sound effects
It's not a typical engine failure, dumbass. They had damage to their hydraulics, ones connected to the gear, spoilers and ailerons. Plus, they do not know that their plane is not more damaged than they might expect. Unfortunately for them, they did not have the hindsight you had behind your screen typing the comment.
I’ve never been so stressed watching an investigation
😂
These pilots all deserve major recognition medal nominations, hopefully been awarded already
thats why Qantas have a very good safety record. Dispite this incident, it's a very good airliner and this crew did a very good job !
The three incidents off the coast of WA .. watch that episode

The passengers onboard are so lucky that they happened to have 5 highly experienced pilots on the plane and was able to figure everything bit by bit
This is a underrated video it should have more views, likes and comments.
yeah!!
as a Brit we dont often give you credit but today i salute you, superb effort guys.
In light of the Jeju 737 disaster this week, man this Qantas crew did an amazing job.

Very scary ordeal for everyone on board but bravery for the crew who managed to land a badly damaged Airbus A380 aeroplane
Wonderful Pilot's.
God Bless you all.
