The RC world is getting so awesome!! Scale trucks for bashing like the UDR and Losi’s SBR and now this Traxxas Raptor R make the world a better place 😃
You're crazy to bash that Traxxas UDR that truck is an absolute mess to work on from what it looks like... Maybe I just don't know shit about these trucks but I drive the 4X4 slash & 2wd rustler + stampede them are a breeze to pull apart
Gotta say that thing looks bad ass. I’m still a newbie in the hobby but I can’t recall a rc truck hitting that sweet spot between scale realism and high speed controllable performance like this one. By the way great camera work. Thanks for the video
Not sure I would say 30 mph high speed. Anything considered sweet at least in my book must be at least 50 mph without me needing to put on bigger pinion gears. Considering this is already overheating with whatever it comes with anything larger won't be feasible without a motor and esc swap which could then turn a $530 purchase to close to $1,000.
Agreed! So cool to go out, hit the dirt lot hard with something that looks cool and it survived the bashing I put it through. Just cleaned it with an air compressor and it’s ready for more! 😁
I just bought a brand new Traxxas stampede brushless 4 x 4 and I gotta say it is a beast! I love the look of this Ford raptor R, but I'm a sucker for the colour green which is why I chose the stampede. Both of these trucks are just as great. One minor thing I changed on my stampede was my receiver. Because I bought a horizon hobby DXS Aircraft controller because it has the thumb stick set up. Because as a person that loves the RC hobby but with a physical disability, just swapping out the receiver that works with the new controller and with the help of my local hobby dealer, I can now control the gas and brake and my steering all in one thumb stick and I absolutely love it!
What I love about this truck is I have a 2011 F-150 FX4 in race-red, Super Crew cab, KO2's and blacked-out stock rims. Near-spittin' image and that's my justification for buying one. I need to complete the set. Closest I'll ever get to a real Raptor. Even the tread pattern is the same! Traxxas rocks!
I LOVE mine. Bought two today and I cant stop playing with them.... well until they thermal out. Running it near WOT for a half pack worth and it overheated. Its Texas and its like 106* out so that dont help but I have yet to kill a pack. Going to order the Slash ESC /Motor cooling kit on it. Other than that it drives amazing! LOVE IT!
_I'd expect to see a straight rear axle. Now that would have been amazing to see._ Perhaps consider the JD Models Desert Runner Hero. While it may not be much of a crawler, let alone basher, the chassis certainly *looks* the part. It's the coolest -performing- looking RC F-150 Raptor out there, in fact.
I’m sure a ram trx will show up, but with Chevy/gmc not really having a contender i dont see it happening soon. The gmc at4x is the closest I can imagine
One thing that turns me off to traxxes. Every freaking crawler truck has the same portal axles. If you’re going to make a scale Chevy truck. Put an old school,Dana 60 axle in it.
Some people are saying its a little expensive at $530 and yes its up there, but you are getting a solid RTR with a ton of accessories already installed on the truck....maybe try it with the speed pinion installed, great review as always 💯
I'm trying to get into the hobby. Serious question, why would I get this over say something like the Maxx for $50 more? Do they drive that much different? The maxx seems like a better value imo; if you can call either of them a value that is lol.
The one thing I hate is I just got mine and the fender flare decals are not pre-applied and it seems that any they sent out to media was pre-applied but have no reference/ instructions on how best to install without ruining them. Otherwise awesome truck
I saw there was no swaybar not surprised you noticed the body roll. For $530, not sure why they wouldn't include one. My experience the Traxxas motors is they burn up on 3s. Apparently they still do, based on your complaints of lack of fan.
The swaybar is typically an option for them, yup certainly noticed the roll. The TSM helps to overcome that a little, but for those dialing that out, that swaybar purchase will probably come soon. I didn’t burn up my system, but if I had went pack after pack, it probably would have ended up that way. I have a fan somewhere to throw in for future runs.
@@rcdriver great review as always. I appreciate that you give an honest review and point out things to watch for. @cobratuner Who knows? I am guessing soon. Simply based on the fact that they have been discontinuing old models and running clearance sales on inventory. Seems like they are making room for something. They also have not had a new release in a while. $529 for a plastic chassis is a little high IMO.

Picked one up a few days ago. Haven’t run it yet. I’ve actually been getting bored with electric lately. I think I’ll make this a shelf queen for its looks and start really bashing my T Maxx I just got. The cool factor for nitro is way higher than electric despite the issues they have.

Does this truck come with crummy steering endpoints like my trx4 and no way to change with stock controller and no help from warranty? I never heard that in any of the trx4 reviews but the truck shakes itself apart at like 80% turn. Why can't they set these up better?
What I used to do on the slash that had that chassis was put a piece of Scotch tape around the aluminum drive shaft and then get some gorilla glue that expanded closing that gap up almost completely. 529 for a Slash with decals for windows and 30 mph speed capabilities? $499 for an Arrma Typhoon 6s and 70+ miles per hour speeds and alot more metal versus all plastic.
My only complaint for this with the size and the price is that Traxxas should have given it the system from the Hoss, the full 4s from the Max would have been awesome but at least give the 2400kv motor. Also they should have used gtr shocks for it if not giving the better electronics.

I certainly hope they have additional bodies for other brands. This platform is ready, a Silverado would be sick!
Not for this new platform, longer wheelbase

It's not a new thing. My 2010 Slash VXL is identical and I've never had issues with that.
