The RC world is getting so awesome!! Scale trucks for bashing like the UDR and Losi’s SBR and now this Traxxas Raptor R make the world a better place 😃
You're crazy to bash that Traxxas UDR that truck is an absolute mess to work on from what it looks like... Maybe I just don't know shit about these trucks but I drive the 4X4 slash & 2wd rustler + stampede them are a breeze to pull apart
Gotta say that thing looks bad ass. I’m still a newbie in the hobby but I can’t recall a rc truck hitting that sweet spot between scale realism and high speed controllable performance like this one. By the way great camera work. Thanks for the video
Not sure I would say 30 mph high speed. Anything considered sweet at least in my book must be at least 50 mph without me needing to put on bigger pinion gears. Considering this is already overheating with whatever it comes with anything larger won't be feasible without a motor and esc swap which could then turn a $530 purchase to close to $1,000.
Agreed! So cool to go out, hit the dirt lot hard with something that looks cool and it survived the bashing I put it through. Just cleaned it with an air compressor and it’s ready for more! 😁
_I'd expect to see a straight rear axle. Now that would have been amazing to see._ Perhaps consider the JD Models Desert Runner Hero. While it may not be much of a crawler, let alone basher, the chassis certainly *looks* the part. It's the coolest -performing- looking RC F-150 Raptor out there, in fact.
I just bought a brand new Traxxas stampede brushless 4 x 4 and I gotta say it is a beast! I love the look of this Ford raptor R, but I'm a sucker for the colour green which is why I chose the stampede. Both of these trucks are just as great. One minor thing I changed on my stampede was my receiver. Because I bought a horizon hobby DXS Aircraft controller because it has the thumb stick set up. Because as a person that loves the RC hobby but with a physical disability, just swapping out the receiver that works with the new controller and with the help of my local hobby dealer, I can now control the gas and brake and my steering all in one thumb stick and I absolutely love it!
What I love about this truck is I have a 2011 F-150 FX4 in race-red, Super Crew cab, KO2's and blacked-out stock rims. Near-spittin' image and that's my justification for buying one. I need to complete the set. Closest I'll ever get to a real Raptor. Even the tread pattern is the same! Traxxas rocks!
I’m sure a ram trx will show up, but with Chevy/gmc not really having a contender i dont see it happening soon. The gmc at4x is the closest I can imagine
I LOVE mine. Bought two today and I cant stop playing with them.... well until they thermal out. Running it near WOT for a half pack worth and it overheated. @cobratuner Who knows? I am guessing soon. Simply based on the fact that they have been discontinuing old models and running clearance sales on inventory. Seems like they are making room for something. They also have not had a new release in a while. $529 for a plastic chassis is a little high IMO.
@@VetteWay2Fast I would almost guarantee that the stay away from the larger scale rigs. I don't think they sell as well as 10th scale. I'm not sure they get into the micro or mini market either. I don't know what they are working on. But..... I'm ready to see what it is. I have a little inside news that it might be a vendetta V2. I would like to see an XL Typhon.
Jump the Rubicon! Hahaha. Great rip man! Looks good! Wanted the Fox version before, but it was 2wd. Finally a 4wd Raptor with scale shell. Now im torn. Love this for its scale look, but also love Losi’s Trophy Truck version with the scale chassis and truck-like handling. As the Traxxas is meant to be a basher, really not liking the exposed servo underneath. Its just gonna be trouble in the short run. Otherwise good looks, would love to have this as a low fuss SCT basher.
Just bought one on Friday in metallic blue! love it! What a joy to drive!! I wanted to black one buuut i had to pick one up i couldnt wait for November and there are no traxxas stores near me.
The one thing I hate is I just got mine and the fender flare decals are not pre-applied and it seems that any they sent out to media was pre-applied but have no reference/ instructions on how best to install without ruining them. Otherwise awesome truck
Does this truck come with crummy steering endpoints like my trx4 and no way to change with stock controller and no help from warranty? I never heard that in any of the trx4 reviews but the truck shakes itself apart at like 80% turn. Why can't they set these up better?
Great to see more scale rtr models, however, why wouldn’t they do clear windows and particularly rear light buckets/lens’ like the front? Doesn’t make much sense if there is going to be a light kit
Wow. Finally something I was waiting for. Yeah the hot motor is one thing I dislike. We have to stick with 2S to avoid heating up the motor on our slash and 4x4 Rustler.
I saw there was no swaybar not surprised you noticed the body roll. For $530, not sure why they wouldn't include one. My experience the Traxxas motors is they burn up on 3s. Apparently they still do, based on your complaints of lack of fan.

One thing that turns me off to traxxes. Every freaking crawler truck has the same portal axles. If you’re going to make a scale Chevy truck. Put an old school,Dana 60 axle in it.
A premium 😂 this exact model is literally the cheapest in its class with the 3s. Been listed at 399 on the sight for awhile. Most basic 2s and some brushed are close to the same price. The motor and ESC set up is half that. 😂😂
This truck looks really good. Curious what made TRX include the Maxx driveshafts on this but not the Hoss which has bigger tires and motor? Silly.. seems like a nice twist on the old slash though. I wish they would go back to the 3655x arms though and some beefier bulkheads. The Hoss parts wear out so quickly, the arms get really sloppy at the inner hinges. I'd guess this truck shall do the same? I'd be interested at say $350..otherwise, nah.
What a cool truck again, but i was wondering how it compares in size with the new Losi Baja Rey 2.0. Are they the same scale? Or is it more like the UDR size?
@JT-wf8cc they're close. The Baja Rey is however very different. They both look cool. But the Baja Rey is going to be more scale. Having a live rear axle on long arm. Where as the slash is independent all around. And more of a basher. If you're looking to grab one or the other I'd decide based on how hard you bash. And when you can get parts. Both cool. But very different.
What I used to do on the slash that had that chassis was put a piece of Scotch tape around the aluminum drive shaft and then get some gorilla glue that expanded closing that gap up almost completely. Of course I had to trim it up a little bit Make it look nice but it sure kept a lot out of there until it wore out and then I just did it again. Of course I had to work the aluminum drive shaft a little bit to get it out and then remove the Scotch tape.
Looks awesome 👍 all the uptodate equipment in one package with the scale looks too. Really wish traxxas would develop a chassis cover or inner fender to keep rocks and dirt out of the chassis. Just noticing now they have coverd the centre driveshaft on this, very nice feature for an offroader. Lets put it on 4s power! Keen to see the scale acessories that com along for this body as well.
I hear you. Out of habit, the first thing I do when I pop a Slash 4x4 body is to go and flip the chassis over to dump out what’s inside. But the electronics need to breathe and the velcro used with aftermarket covers only seems to last so long. Maybe someday we’ll see a good cover come out.

Your saying it dose 60 mph. Is the just with the extra pinion gear added or do you have to do other mods as well.

Nice. I just wished it had a lot more suspension travel. like the losi 2.0. like a Baja truck instead of a short course truck.
