I'm not exactly pround of the place I'm from But I've been here my whole life so I guess I'll call it home. In South Carolina a flag still shows the enslavement of our minds But in South Carolina I learned from all the times. We went to all-ages shows, Sunday matinees Hanging out wondering if the bands would show and even play. The bands would come and we would all sing along (sing along sing along). Would they ever know their impact would last so long? The world is full of lonely places no matter where you're from. A crowded show, familiar faces make me feel at home. Many kids have come and gone but I know what kept me here. The magic of those songs has sustained me through the years. I heard the word sincerity and I know now what that means. I learned it first with Black Flag, mohawks, combat boots and torn-up jeans. We were more than just a tour date. You were more than just a song. We sweat and sang together and that helped us to carry on. We were more. You were more. For the record.
“We were more than just a tour date You were more than just a song We sweat and sang together And that helped us to carry on” These lyrics still to this day hold true. I miss this band so damn much.
My brother was the bass guitar player, spent my 11th birthday at my first show, had an acid head swearing I was the luckiest person on the planet. They toured the world. Awesome dudes. Everyone.
Favorite band of all time. Grew up to these guys and first saw them at the Music Farm in Charleston in 1998. Can’t wait to listen to this with my daughter. 2024 represent
This brings me back to 2002 when my friends and I would go see them and others like Beloved, Agony Scene, Juliana Theory, and others in Memphis. Great song guys!!
I love these guys. I used to travel all over to see their shows, because they were always so positive and energetic. They even watched out for the crowd to make sure no one was getting hurt. They are true gentlemen and I hope I have the opportunity to see a reunion show one day!
Man, I remember seeing these guys in someone's back yard when I was in high school (had a different singer at the time). I didn't hear anything from them until they had a record release party for "Compassion Fills the Void" at Manifest. I didn't really like them when I saw them years before and expected more of the same, but they blew me away now that they had Chris on vocals. After that I saw them countless times and was there for the filming of this video at the Elbow Room. Such awesome memories.
Stretch Arm Strong are the fucking shit. They live up to this song live, no joke. I hung out with them for like 2 hours and BSed and played pool and whatnot. Used to have Chris Mcclanes number then my fucking phone got destroyed.
cool band. glad i looked them up. i love the punk influence btw, people should remember that what "genre"a certain band is classified in should be irrelevant to whether or not you like the band.
does anyone know what is happening with that guys today? Are they in any band? they make music? I haven't had contact with the hc / punk scene for a decade :)
@CheeseZombieo No doubt, but if you ask most people about punk, those are the bands that get cited. It's just a fact. Nobody [sadly] knows who Stretch Arm Strong is anymore.
i think (i know) what he meant by that is the place where they're from has (had) major problems with racism. So, like any true hardcore band, they are being honest. That's integrity, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
back in the days where hardcore meant something. Now the hardcore scene is just a scene of pozer who were listening blink 182 and offspring 3 days ago...
There arent even classified punk... they are straight edge core anyways... Im not a huge fan but I am glad I got to see the last show that they will ever play last night

Can't get enough of this song. It's so collectively positive.
This still holds up. They were more than just a tour date and more than just a song.

Happy memories of listening and seeing this band live. Also when they played London with Jets Vs Shark opening for them.
Happy days.

Yes, I got it in!

does anyone know what is happening with that guys today? Are they in any band? they make music? I haven't had contact with the hc / punk scene for a decade :)
2020 anyone?
This is what it's all about.
me too compadre
I like how they don't just play predictable rifts and keep it interesting.
their chillin at my house right now haha
This should have been a punk rock/hardcore anthem for the first five years of the 2000's instead of anything Green Day, Sum 41, or Offspring did.
How did I never know
is it just me, or does a day to remember almost get their sound from these guys?
one of their sounds sounds exactly like this
I was thinking more like Comeback Kid
Completely!
@@jonsnowden15them too haha
@dropjaw They are doing a fest here in AZ 9/24
@clamantuanguyan Have you ever been to a show?
@str8edgeX4life i will be at this show too, good buddy. I'm more concerned with seeing Cruel Hand and H2O!
whats up with the green guy in the crowd?
@CheeseZombieo No doubt, but if you ask most people about punk, those are the bands that get cited. It's just a fact. Nobody [sadly] knows who Stretch Arm Strong is anymore.

Not bad for some straight edge kids.

Dang and here I thought this was the Stretch Armstrong action figure.
I love when people brag on the internet
no one cares stop treating independent musicians like fucking celebrities.
Theres still shit loads of great hardcore.
Fn nadass
back in the days where hardcore meant something. Now the hardcore scene is just a scene of pozer who were listening blink 182 and offspring 3 days ago...
Shut up. You have no idea what yer talking about.
huh?
@garrettjackson Certainly not the most influencial anything band ever... It's a dece tune no less
its hardcore nitwits
Really. Bands with members that were loaded singing songs about drugs and other dumb shit. That didn't influence my life @chuckzone3000
There arent even classified punk... they are straight edge core anyways... Im not a huge fan but I am glad I got to see the last show that they will ever play last night
Ok SAS is great but hardly the most influential.
0:57 Worst stagedive I've ever seen, terrible form.
shaddap
posishit
i love stretch arm strong but
the people is................
pisiwu¿hat???
thats not a genre
@jefferygwatkins and those bands are fucking terrible. That isn't what lead through 2000 to date. Thats just mainstream crap.
pfffff.. Obviously you don't know what u talking about...
It's incredible how wrong you are. The Clash, Sex Pistols, those are the most influential punk bands
Those band suck king kong balls lol
