You spend 90% of your review talking about shahid while Kriti was a mere BTW footnote. Need to call out this discrimination on how female performances are reviewed. I thought she was fabulous and carried the tricky film. The comic scenes were tough but she balanced them well. Also kudos to her for matching Shahid in the dance numbers while still having to pull off a slightly robotic performance (no mention of her in the songs!) she also looks fabulous

Don’t you think that could be because the movie itself revolves around shahid Kapoor primarily? And Indian films don’t have many female centric movies and scripts

While the comments are all about Shahid hitting and missing good scripts, I would like to give a shout out to Kriti Sanon who actually gave a very good performance. Playing human like robot that does not lean too heavily on either side had to be a difficult task. Ensuring that we don't only talk about the male leads' misses while ignoring good performances by female leads

There used to be a serial around 8-9 years ago on life ok channel named "Bahu hamari Rajni Kant" which focused on the same aspect. The protagonist named Shaan married a humanoid named Rajni and it was filled with laughter and comedy of errors. I loved that show as a child. The concept of this movie is kinda similar to that serial.

I wonder why we always have to put a film in boxes like romantic comedy or dark tale? I personally loved it. It was extremely funny. Shahid and Kriti were fantastic in their roles. The supporting cast was great. Yes, i didnt care much about the cast but it doesn't really matter to me because I cared a lot about Shahid and Kriti, since the movie was about them. And specially Shahid - seeing him go from feeling lonely and incomplete to feeling complete because of Sifra, watching his heart break when Sifra hit him and finally realising that she's just...code. It was beautiful to watch his emotional journey. The film is extremely funny and light-hearted and i'm so glad it wasn't preachy or tried to fit into some conventional genre

its the half baked nature of showcasing the dichotomy. Had that been the primary focus, it would have at least been more emotionally hard hitting. It became a very surface level affair because so much time was spent on the comedy of errors with the family

Good decision that it did not went to emotional angles of AI vs human..AI cannot show emotions and they stick to that in part1 atleast and that was very good decision in screenplay..good that they decided comedy with AI instead of being preachy and showing AI is getting affected..maybe part2 will show such angles and risk the reality ...but this was very balanced movie..no cringe ..no over acting ..family fun interactions..we can ignore emotions and messages atleast in field of technologies ..above all nobody talking about how well kriti acted..just acknowledging is not enuf..it should be talked and praised about ..seems if it would have been other actors like Alia , Deepika media would have been on roll right now..
Feedback : You are subconsciously inclining your reviews more on pessimism side. There are less praises more criticism since few years on good movies as well. ..don't loose your essence pl . You can try to be light hearted as before ..nobody likes hard opinions on everything ..Thanks ...

Watched it and did enjoy it. But couldn't help but constantly question the decisions of Shahid's character considering he's shown as a highly intelligent man. Many of his decisions seemed rather immature for someone who's supposed to be as intelligent as him. But regardless, they did make the movie enjoyable for most parts. The climax was unexpected at the same time not satisfying enough in its approach. But overall, it felt like a feel-good movie to a large extent because you're constantly hoping and waiting for Siffra to develop some form of human emotions.

Integration of sci-fi into commercial genre is a tough ask. Look at Enthiran/Robot released in 2010, despite the central character being a robot, the movie's only intention is to entertain, with sprinkling of science here and there.
Cut to 2024, people are decently aware of AI, how it works, so if you opt for a sci-fi movie, your homework should be thorough and spot on, also such movies like sci-fi commercial entertainers needs director with proper conviction.

    • @yashaswinikrishnan1878

actually even if you watch enthiran now, lot of the technology shown there is still really good and doesn't feel cliche. I know some parts are there for the mass (for example the electromagnetic thing which attracts all weapons) but even that seems achievable in some years in a robot. the thing is, it's not entirely fantasy. it SEEMS to be highly achievable

I watched this movie yesterday and I enjoyed it. I watch Bollywood movies for the good looking cast, music, dance, colour and clothes. And the end has to be ‘happy ending’ (Om Shanti Om). This movie didn’t have the happy ending so it was a little ‘hatke’ that way. I have laughed so much during a movie, after a very long time. When I want to movies with logical storylines I watch Malayalam movies. (Irattu, Joseph, Joji and a whole lot of movies). This movie ticks all the boxes for me for a good Bollywood movie. And I hope the men who watched the movie go home with the message that only a robot says ‘theek hain’ every time, is a great cook, has perfect skin and hair. There is no way that you can get this in a human wife. Just like the robot needs to be recharged, the human wife also needs rest to get recharged. An Indian woman can now say ‘You want a perfect wife (as per the imagination of a lot of Indian men and their families ). Go marry a robot.’

You do realise what the problem is right? In real life the heart cannot take over the micro processor..it's just too smart..the technical will keep changing personality and appearance to whatever appeals to you in the moment..the technical will never love you, it will just keep manipulating you..and the sad part is..many humans are depressed enough today to happily take that option 😢

This movie had the potential to be the 1st SLASHER THRILLER of Bollywood if producers had courage and vision to go A rated,
My theory is that, you keep the movie as it is until the interval (sure you can cut the unnecessary CGI scenes and pull all the romantic scenes before the interval). You interval at the point when her memory gets corrupted. After the interval you have a big mension , with lots of family members of the hero and a LOOSE CANNON AI Robot, a Tried and Tested recipe for a SLASHER movie. Imagine the shock value it would have created. Kriti's character does have the GLIMPSE of such capabilities after she is confronted by the little girl. The movie ends with Shahid's character being stabbed by Kriti Mercilessly only in the last moments for her to feel the PAIN of the ACT and her convoluted memories coming back to her. Only to realise what she has done and still be conflicted about it.
The best thing should have been the trailer ONLY showing the 1st half of the movie of all Happy romantic moments and not mentioning anything from the 2nd half.
People would have definitely puked in the theatres after the shocking revelation.
What are your thoughts about it?
