      Failed to recognize his service? He received a bronze star. I hate how every other military award besides the medal of honor is considered worthless these days.

    75 years ago the greatest battle of all time happened. That battle was Operation Overlord. Now known as D-Day. The battle sparked the liberation of France. Let us honor our veterans and those in the line of duty.

      Deutschland Gefellt Mir^^ Xoxo. We were there in West Germany with the US Army later September 1980- later September 1983 so Vielen Dank!! My oldest Son had seven years of German counting that + four years in HS and typically in the Service without forethought the US Navy sent him to Panama with Spanish the usual (he Enlisted Active Duty Navy at age 19).

    It’s kind of ironic to see the history channel share this. I say this because back in the day I was watching a documentary on the history channel about black soldiers and it said there were none who fought at D-Day.

    My old Friend Ben Delahunty was there & So Very Grateful for people like Waverly B. Woodson who Saved countless Lives beyond the numbers. Ben, Now With God along with Field Medic Woodson here, died in 2018 in Seoul, Korea and always had Free R/T British Airways trips home Every Year: as an irish Catholic Native Son he held a British Passport.

      Even with Elenore, Why didn't Roosevelt integrate the USA Military Service Branches and Why did it take until Truman... My going on 97 year old Jesuit Priest once told me that "Being Brave, Having Courage is Being Afraid And Doing it Anyway": American Soldier Waverly B.     The true americans here. "And not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". True americans in an effort to preserve a democracy that didn't serve them when they landed back on the soil they were protecting in the first place. This is why there is a subdued anger and frustration left in the hearts and minds people who just had dark skin. Bless all those forever and then some.

    Was this gentleman born in Africa? Why not simply call him American? Or should we also call Roosevelt a Dutch-American President? Kennedy a Catholic-Irish-American President? Trump a Scottish-German American President with a Scottish-German-Slovenian American son called Barron?

      African American people had no say in what they wanted to be called, plus when you describe people in the past you had to just describe them by race, of their ancestor homeland and black is not a race, it's a color.Trump, Kennedy, are Caucasian it have 3 meaning it could be there ancestors are from Europe, Middle, East Central Asia.

      Nope. Doss saved 70 men PERSONALLY while the battle was raging. Woodson Jr aided 300 men after the battle, which means he was working with other medics, not saving them personally.

    Many, Many Drowned before they even got to the Beach & the US Army Signal Corps was already there by three days to lay the Radio Communication Cables, et al; and, recently i read online that US Marines were also inserted First _Protecting Signal?_& then there are the USMC Raiders who fought totally OP-SEC with Mao's people later 1930's-1941+ in China vs the Japanese.✨🌌🇺🇸🗽🤺🎇🥁🌉🎆⚓

    Peter Jennings was correct, "The Finest Generation!" which was not 'duplicated' until iraq and Afghanistan Veterans in part because Congress was additionally lacking Supportive means by word & deed _and lack thereof_ for our People in Viet Nam: Armchair Quarterbacks still abound.
