The major launch service providers are confronting a market going through major changes and at the same time are all debuting new rockets. Arianespace is preparing the transition from Ariane 5 to Ariane 6, to be operated alongside the light-lift Vega C. MHI’s H3 vehicle is being developed to succeed the H2. China Great Wall is operating several vehicles, with the Long March 7 to be operated with the smaller Long March 6. SpaceX is preparing its enormous Starship rocket and continues to operate the Falcon 9. This session will give answers to:
▪ How do these companies view the transition to the new vehicles, and how do they view the commercial market?
▪ Are they preparing for large LEO constellations to reduce demand for GEO-orbit telecommunications satellites in the coming years?
▪ Do their business plans assume that government business will have a larger role in the future compared to recent years?
▪ And what is their response to the large number of small vehicles that have found private-sector financing?
▪ Are these new smallsat launchers a competitive threat to a part of the business of the established commercial launch providers?
