I'm trying to figure out a good build for a whip user right now. but i was thinking a rouge paldin will be a good job. so you can still have dps if you want
Yeah the 1d4 is the worst part, so I'd say follow the example set by the Netflix series and use a Morning Star as the basis and make it 1d8 for the Vampire Killer. So it's a +3 whip that does 1d8 damage. When you hit a fiend or an undead with this magic weapon, that creature takes an extra 2d6 radiant damage. If the target has 25 hit points or fewer after taking this damage, it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be destroyed. On a successful save, the creature becomes frightened of you until the end of your next turn. If you're going with the Netflix series version, make that extra 2d6 radiant damage also hit creatures within 5 feet of the initial target.
@@NerdImmersion the whip is one of the weapons I wish there was a whole tree for. Whips, ball and chain, meteor hammer, kasurigama, etc. This is also something I would want in a eastern fantasy book.

Use a bonus action to speak the command word, Groovy, to make the serrated edges of the blade to start spinning, allowing the user to reroll any damage dice once per turn, using the better result.
