    Such a great way to handle this reality of life. People caring for people in its truest, most basic form. Beautiful!

    Thank you for sharing this incredible option! Many of us who have been “trapped” in depending on the corporate world for health insurance for decades, have seen our benefits erode and premiums skyrocket, yet feel a bit stuck with that system (which we do our best to avoid using anyway, as we also live in that parallel world where we homeschooled the entire time and we do our best to be as self sufficient as possible with health and wellness, etc). This video information is a true gift. Thank you and God Bless🙏🏻

    So much change just came to the current classic plan, I’d love to hear how you’re adjusting to it. $400 to $750 IUA, no coverage for any over the counter supplements, and 30% coshare on maternity care. We’re members and like it. The news changes were just a shock.

      So much has changed! I understand it but I agree, it’s hard to digest. I’m curious to talk to them more about those changes in the coming weeks/months.

    I worked for a large health insurance company 30 years ago and they had 30k employees, I'm sure it's more now. When premiums are paid the thousands of employees are paid from that and then the rest goes into paying for medical care and of course some of the rest is paid to the shareholders. Like this system where the money is paid to the person for medical care.

    Right now I am so thankful for insurance. They pay for my CPAP supplies 100%. They’ve provided speech therapy, physical therapy, even 2 elective surgeries for $0 out-of l-pocket, however good alternatives are always important to me to note. We have no guarantees of tomorrow. If hubby passed away, lost his job or if we have a major national crisis we would have to figure out something new. I even want to know herbal or other home remedies.

    If the monthly total is the base of $650 + an amount shared by others, how does one budget for the amount required to send out to others. Also, how much is this amount approximately and is there a limit?
    We are considering health share but don’t understand this aspect and could perceive of the potential for a large monthly amount shared by others that we are responsible for but unable to pay.

    • @FromScratchFarmstead
      @FromScratchFarmstead  7 місяців тому +3

      That base amount is all the you pay each month. For a family of 3-7 on the classic program it is $634 each month (nothing more). We chose to opt in to the save to share program for catastrophic events so that's what makes our amount slightly more each month but the total we pay for that is only $266 per year. Hope this helps answer your questions. Definitely check out our blog post or the Samaritan website for more details. It's a little confusing at first but once you get it, it's very easy to use. Thanks for watching!

    a question about paying while you also have an active need. Do you still pay your monthly while you have an active need and receiveing shares from other people or do you then switch to paying towards your own need?

    What do you do for house insurance? I mean simple insurance, for total loss. I have always thought there should be a similar group that supports each other throu times of need.

    Would love to consider being a giving member of Samaritan Ministries and thank you for sharing what your experience has been. We're on a similar journey with our family and your channel has been a great help to us. We share, can, and would sign the Samaritan Ministries statement of faith, however Samaritan Ministries discriminates against members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and does not allow me to join. Hopefully bridges of understanding will be built and the biblical example Christ set of the good Samaritan will guide them forward.

    • @ruthpilkington9087
      @ruthpilkington9087 7 місяців тому +1

      It's not a matter of discrimination. Unfortunately, you couldn't, in all honesty, sign the statement of faith in its true sense. There are fundamental principles, the Eternal Sonship of Jesus and the Holy Trinity to name two important matters of theological differences.

      @@ruthpilkington9087 I'm interested to learn what has led you to believe what my religious beliefs are with such confliction? Real question. I am not sure we have met or interacted before. Usually people don't tell me my statements of faith are dishonest without getting to know me a bit, so I must be missing something about you.

      Thanks for watching! There are other health care sharing programs as well that you could explore.

  • @madisyngerard7209

    To clarify, when you say that for your family it costs about $650 a month for the classic plan, does that mean that the health cost you are covering for another person is that amount? Or is that a base cost to be a member and then you receive other members bills on top of that?
    Thats one thing I'm confused about with healthshare ministries. Like could I be assigned someone's bill totalling $3,000 one month and a different bill totalling $115 the next? Or is the limit to the amount I would pay each month that $650?
    I hope that was clear! Thanks for the video ❤

    • @FromScratchFarmstead
      @FromScratchFarmstead  3 місяці тому

      The amount that we pay is roughly $650 each month. That being said, with the save to share program, our monthly amount fluctuates some and will be higher some months than others but it's always within a range fairly close to that. I hope that clarifies and makes sense!

      Hey! That's a fair point! I think in some ways it just comes down to subtleties in how you view it. We prefer to view it as facilitated sharing of medical needs. It's definitely not traditional health insurance. Thanks for watching!

      Giving birth is not always safe. Sometimes the mother's or the baby's life is in danger and intervention is needed (such an emergency c-section). And I'm not even talking about cases when the baby is in a difficult position, tangled umbilical cord etc. Some mothers and babies are lucky and it all goes well, but that's not always the case.
