I'm green and I married my wife who is white. I'm so lucky. We forget to be thankful for how easy some of us had/have it. Bless those who are going thru this, much like those couples fighting religion. When she sings green at the end, so gud. 🤙
I love the language twist. It begins in "white" and ends with "green." And yet, he isn't coming back. It is sad and tragic. Still it is better to have loved once fully and lost it, than never to have had the chance to love at all. Some seek their whole lives and may never find it.
@@this1duDeI’d like to believe there is a reason why the one got away. Things happen for a reason and perhaps it was to protect us from something greater or to become a better version of ourselves for the one we’re meant to be with.
What if your the girl in the song..I bet you do what you can to keep the love of your life.. @laujmimnacha2551 its easy for you to say...because its not you in the girls shoe in the song..some people think its soo easy just to walk away from the love of your life.. I guess you dont understand the TRUE meaning of LOVE...
I'm of Lao, Thai, & Khmer ancestry, so I don't understand the lyrics to the song. However, her voice made me feel some strong emotions and made me somewhat teary-eyed. 🥰
@@oneandonlybrielle6079 i hope there will be a english translation soon. i agree, even if i didn't know the language, the way she sings the song is so heartbreaking. she is saying how she doesn't speak her lover's dialect since she is Hmong white and her lover is Hmong green. (these languages between the two tribes of Hmong is similar but also very different and there have been historical biases from each tribe of the other). basically, her lover's family doesn't like her because she cannot speak nor communicate in Hmong green so she is saying that she will learn to prove her love so that her lover's family will accept her too. she is waiting for him acknowledge her love and how far she will go to be with him. in the end, she has learned how to speak in Hmong green and actually sings the lyrics in Hmong green......and the song ends with her waiting for him. it's a unique and beautifully sung song.
Big props to the animator! Really creative approach to opening a notebook to a love letter and transitioning into an animation of the letter of falling down, telling the story of a relationship. Plus closing the book where it takes you back to real life. I love that. It really dives in to the perspective of of the experience into reading a children’s book. And Maiv muas love seeing the great works you put into this. This is a step forward towards in how we creatively work to tell stories within the modern Hmong diaspora ❤ congrats on your first music video
I’m green and my wife is white. She’s been around green families but she doesn’t speak it perfect but I’m still teaching her and she’s doing very good. This song is one of a kind. The memory, the lyrics, the voices and how she seems to carried the emotions with the music like it’s her actual experience, is very moving. As a man even I cried a bit listening to it. The story this song tells of a true type of love from her for her lover even at the end he left and she had accomplished all she can just for him. In Hmong families, even if we married a diff speaking dialect and if they’re ignorant and careless to learn then I guess it’s ok to listen to OG. But if you are seeing or married to one who’s doing everything she can to follow your traditions and your languages, she’s not to be left behind. These girls are one of a kind. Remember guys.
She needs a ❤ button. Love the voice. Wish it showed more of her singing. The expression was lovely... i get that its a storyline. But man shes my fav atm. Keep the music coming.
This song hits every single time. It's such a beautiful song. I am hmoob nstuag and my husband is hmoob dawb. I grew up with mostly friends that speak hmong dawb so I am able to understand both dialects and am so grateful for this. Although our families have always shown us love, you can definitely see and feel the differences. Thank you for writing this.
Everything in this video is so beautifully put together. From the lyrics, the music, vocals, the posture/ position of single & angle of filming. Just stunning. Looking forward to more. Keep it up y’all.
At first, I thought the lyrics seemed a bit dumb- loving someone because of a different dialect? But the more I listened, the deeper meaning really hit me. Her learning Hmong Green represents her adapting to him and his family, showing the extent of her love and dedication to him. Yet, in the song, she reveals that he’s already moved on to someone else, which makes it clear he never truly loved her. He cared more about others’ opinions than standing up for her or protecting her. In the end, even though she was willing to change and adapt for him, it was never enough.
This song is so creative and amazing. Love the last part where she speaks green. Now next time when I’m at my wife’s green family’s house and we karaoke I’m gonna sing this song 😆
Fortunately, I can't relate to the pain but I definitely can feel it after listening, well done expressing those emotions with the lyrics and the music, I could shed tears listening even though I've never been in that situation
My husband is hmoob dawb and I’m moob leeg. Been together for 10 years, married for 9 years. We both understand both dialects and sometimes speak both dialects in our conversations. This song is beautiful and its been on replay ❤
Same here! I’m hmoob leeg meanwhile my husband is hmoob dawb. I often speak Hmong green to my husband during our daily conversation & my husband actually don’t mind.
I really thought this song was powerful. Some Hmong families aren't accepting to Hmoob Dawb in this generation still, it gives a sense to be open minded so I'm glad this song was made because not every family will be accepting of you that is outside of your control and as little as it seems, there are still people facing these issues in our generation. You are truly an inspiration and this was made perfectly.
I'm in the same boat. I'm Hmoob Dawb and my significant other is Hmoob Leeg. We had been married for 25 years. We understood each other very well. I respect and accept the differences of the language.
Love your sweet innocent perspective on one of so many aspects of being Hmong, let alone being a female…& appreciate so much your creative talent in the way of expression. What a creative, beautiful, & powerful song. Love the dialect at the end.
Such a powerful song that brings light to the struggles the Hmong community experience. Thank you for bringing awareness. Growing up and even now, Hmong dawb makes fun of Hmong Nstuab dialect, I’m not sure if it’s true the other way around as I am Hmong dawb. I assume so. You win the best Hmong song of the year and best music video of the year.
This song hits home because my mom is Hmong white and my dad is green. My grandma didn't like my mom for many years even though she speaks both dialects then. Eventually I grew up, married a Hmong white wife as well and it was no longer a big deal. My wife and I have been married 18 years now and she still can't fully speak green to me lol 😂 I'm lucky enough to be able to speak both dialects. Love your song and thank you for this reminder of Hmong history and still a present issue in some families.
Had this playing at work and one of my meeka coworkers asked if this was Carrie Underwood. That is a compliment! Very talented vocals! Deep song and MV. May you find your nraug hmoob ntsuas to ease your heart.
Sis it's a feel and love you keep in your heart even when your remarried. A women heart is as deep as the blue sea. I was in this shoe I still think of it till now. When I heard this song my heart broke again.
This song made me cry. My father is Hmong Ntsuab. His family treated my mom poorly because she is Hmong Dawb. Because of that, my father's family doesn't recognize us. My aunts & uncle's on my dad's side don't know who i am. Although I am hmong ntsuab, i only know how to speak hmong dawb since we grew up with my mom's side of the family. When my puj (paternal grandmother) got old and went to a nursing home, i would go and visit her. She would refuse to speak to me because she thought I was my mom. It was then i realized how much my father's family hated my mom because of her being hmong dawb and us children had to suffer because of it.
My heart hurts for you and your parents. I showed my daughter this MV and explained to her that this kind of dialect discrimination within our culture is still very much alive. Thankfully, I feel we've gotten a bit better.
This is so cruel and tragic. I am sorry you were born into this world of hate due to who you are. Hmong does not love Hmong. Wondering what Hmong dawb did to Hmong ntsuab? I love you for being who you are
love the MV and Anime story telling in your MV...thankyou for blessing us with your beautiful voice and song...may you continue to bless us with beautiful music in near future
In my family, I am both leej/green and white and it’s like a big impact. It’s really real but glad that the two dialects are coming together. That’s all that matters. Never experience but felt.
This song was well executed!! "FIRE" The lyrics, beats, melody, harmony and the transition from white to green at the end!! GOOSEBUMPS!!! Keep the songs coming......
I'm hmoob dawb and my husband is hmoob leeg. I'm glad our dialects was never an issue like some love stories in the past. He only speaks green to me and I've learned to mix my dialects between the two after 15 years of being together. We have two beautiful little girls, so I definitely try to speak more green to them.
I'm green, and it was a few times I suffered that because of me not being white. I did exactly what this song sings about. Knowing how this song is reversed, it still hits hard in my heart. The memories and pain don't fade away easily. 😢. Thank you for this beautiful song that relates to a lot of Hmong people who have been in that shoe.
your lyrics told a story and the compassion in your voice showed us the emotions so well that even before the anime was released, many of us can already visualize the sincere love portrayed and the depth of pain displayed. can't wait for your next song/project.

When the stars don’t align and it’s one sided, love yourself enough to walk away. There is better out there waiting for you.

When she sings in Moob Leej and puts the clothes on it rips my heart visually and mentally.
This is the best comment made here, hands down.
Yes, started out in Moob Dlawb clothings. I’m glad you also noticed.
Ngl, I get emotional every time it gets to that part. First time hit the hardest.
Me too that made me all teary because she was willing to put her whole life aside to change herself for his family.
