Masunaga Optical and Dan Deutsch Optical Outlook showcase the unique and compelling tales of nine L.A.-based artists, all at the top of their craft. We talk to a painter, a sculptor, a jewelry designer, a chef, a welder, and more, to hear what craftsmanship means to them, and we go behind the scenes to learn about these craftsmen and women and their work.

As a traditional artist myself, I absolutely love this video. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. For many of us, this means a lot.
What a Legend.
Hi Mark, miss you my friend. Showing my boy all your art! You are truly amazing! You still have the best laugh ever!
Such a huge inspiration to me! I've always wanted to see this master at the drawing table showing his craft live ... thanks for posting!
He's the only creature designer I really know about. I love what he did for the Village, Pirates and Jurassic Park.
I wish soooooo bad that an art book with his work would be published. I've been looking for one for years.
same here. He changed my world with his jurassic park concepts. theres so little of him online
his sketch books are rather personal, he flipped through them in a recent interview but he admitted to being very shy about it as they were never meant to be shown to the public. 👍🙈
What a lovely, cheerful and talented man!!!
Cheerful down to earth and super talented...I always get amazed by his art!
This was epic. Hero.
First time I've ever seen Crash draw.
Legend!!
great choice of music! Com Truise
this literally looks like me in the future if I end up drawing for a living
master
WOWWW
What kind of pencil was he talking about, can someone help me
2 mm mechanical pencil with a 2b lead.
made by koh-l-nor , its a 10$ mechanical pen. which is a good price though i have not tried one. im not sure which sharpener he is using as i doubt its the cheap on that comes with the pen (but maybe). also wish i knew which lead he uses, i know its 2b but what brand, is it koh-l-nor or is he putting something else in there,.. 😔
He uses Stadtler graphite lead
In this video he's using Turquoise 2mm lead (presumably 2B), a Staedtler 780 Technico clutch pencil, and a Staedtler 502 lead pointer to sharpen it. Odd that he says he uses a Koh-I-Noor sharpener, when that's not what's shown here.
I expected more creepy laughing
