    From bridge of Orchy to the ski centre is technically walking through Rannoch moor and Glen etive. The Ski centre is technically in Glen Etive despite it being called Glencoe Mountain Resort!

    Another brilliant video. Could I just ask, when you wildcamp and travel many miles, I assume you drive to ur start point, but upon completion of your adventure, how do you get back to the start point to recollect ur vehicle?
    Also in Scotland how do you know where you can wild camp for free and for where you’ll require a permit? Thankyou

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  5 місяців тому

      I usually drive but for this trip I got the train. You need a permit for some sections of Loch Lomond. They’re only £4.20 but need to be booked well in advance as they go quickly. Apart from that you’re free to camp anywhere within reason.

    What a stunner of a Video, how cannot it not be a stunner, when it is one of the most magnificent landscapes in the UK. I have been critical of your audio quality in the past, being too low and poor quality, but hey! this audio was crystal clear good clarity in your voice, the highs and lows sound great, you must have binned the old mics, good onya mate. keep up the excellent content as I (UK expat) watch from afar in Minnesota USA the State of 10,000 Lakes.

    Amazing what you said at 9-10 minutes, this is exactly what I say to people, the natural world has all the entertainment we could ever need, and amazing that everything you need to survive for days can fit into a backpack, also it feels like when I was a child and found everything amazing and an adventure, I used to go for adventures in the woods and fields close to my house, now I can do the same as an adult but no limits to how far I can go, this is what life is about, spending time in our natural environment instead of the fake virtual reality world that is basically just someone else’s ideas thought up and created and what most people consider the real world, the natural world was not created by humans therefore is not corrupt

    Hi matey, I just wanted to pick your brains if that's ok. What were your reasons for taking the Helm1 rather than say a Lanshan that would have been half the weight? It's not a criticism, I'm genuinely interested as I'd quite like to try something like this. Really cracking little bite sized films, keeps me looking out for the next one. Anyway enjoy your adventure & the stunning weather!👍

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  5 місяців тому +1

      You can pitch the Helm 1 virtually anywhere. This is mainly because it's got a small footprint, a thick groundsheet and it's freestanding. It's much warmer than a Lanshan 2, 4 season too.
      Despite being such a long route, there aren't actually too many wild camping places suitable for trekking pole tents. As a general rule, you ideally need a nice short, flat surface with no protrusions due to most trekking pole tents having a thin groundsheet and they're reliant on being nicely pegged out too because they need to be taut.
      For this type of terrain I personally didn't feel the need to take trekking poles so I would have to carry them if I was taking a trekking pole tent so more weight and a lot more bulk.
