I keep my fruit fly cultures under the shelves of where I keep my ant colonies. I am pretty sure room temperature is fine for them, but I know you do not want them to get too cold. They may not reproduce. Since I have had success with my cultures, lets say temps between 70 to 85 degrees should be fine. It does not take long to be able to tell if the flies are not reproducing. lol

I want to raise fruit flies for the ants, so can I ask what temperature you keep fruit flies at?

Do you like P. badius or occidentalis better?
I do now have a P. badius colony, but if I had the choice between the two, I would definitely go with the P. badius. They have majors! lol
