It's a delightful, meticulously compiled Video, @ B Q, we thank you very much ❤😊. Coppélia, Wedding PDD with Osipova and Lopatin, is always a favourite ❤❤, it's set in Austria-Hungary ❤. Special also, is Takada & MacRae's The Dream Pas de Deux ❤❤, and it's depicting the Country of mythical and beautiful Greece ❤❤! Laurencia Variation Male Solo, set in Spain, is performed by the most outstanding dancer, Anton Ploom ❤❤. I love his gorgeous cabriolé jumps ❤❤. The music for 'Laurencia' Variation Male Solo, is similar to the musical score in La Bayadère 2nd Shade Variation (Takada, Tikhomirova, Osipova; DanceLine Ballet), and it's composed by L Minkus ❤. La Bayadère's set in India ❤. I love all the participating dancers ❤❤!
Well, I think there was (almost) no surprise for me; I got 20/20, I think most difficult was L'Talisman for me. I really love the quiz idea, but unfortunately did not feel completely happy about how it eventually turned out; it's rather like that you first need to guess the ballet from the clip and then either know where it is set or need to guess it. It's a little bit a pity that you did not include enough "folklore" clips, so there was not always the chance to "conclude" it from staging, as for The Nutcracker, Paquita or Giselle (Act 1 each). Your choice of "The Dream" was also a little bit odd for me, as A misdummer night's dream is definitely set there, such also as Balanchine's ballet version, but it's hard to guess from Ashton's version (isn't it shifted into 19th century?). I'm also missing Swan Lake so much ! I It's set originally in Germany, even if it is mostly neglected nowadays and regarded as a Russian story, so I see why you didn't include it ...Sleeping beauty is a little bit more tricky, but it is referencing French tales by Perrault etc.. Especially as these famous ballets are not often clear in their original setting, I was actually really expecting them in the quiz. But, well, perhaps I had only different expectations - thank you anyway for doing this amazing challenge again! (Perhaps part 2 then? (; ) P.S. I did create a world map with the ballets marked in (;
Thank you ! If I gave away the ballet title, it would have been too easy, but I included famous pieces of the ballets, so it wouldn't be hard to guess. I didn't include any ballets where it wasn't clear where the story takes place, that's why there was no Swan Lake etc. The map idea is great!
Well, I didn't expect to get 20/20 at this one! I thought that I would do a lot worse but I think that it is my lucky day today! I knew all the ballets that you included and I tried to recognise the country from the costumes and that method helped very much I guess. By the way, I value very much that you included Greece in this quiz and thank you so much for that!
@@BalletQuiz always worth watching, such gorgeous dancing! Will also have to reread Midsummer Night's Dream - Kipling wove it so well into his very English tales of Puck that it's overridden the original setting in my mind. Might also be why Ashton's version doesn't feel strongly of Greece (or any other location?). Also fascinating how many were set when Austria-Hungary was still an empire...
I love it! I don’t know some of the ballets that are not popularly performed in US. But with other cues, I did all right. We are the students who love being quizzed.
20/20 tuve dudas con el 14 y el favorito para mí es Spartacus con Mikhail Lobukhin un fantástico actor -bailarin el mejor para mí en estos roles psicológicamente tan complejos como este o Iván el Terrible.

@@BalletQuiz I see your points!
The Dream also confused me at first, the costumes for Ashton’s version are definitely 1830s!

Right!@@BalletQuiz
Спасибо за интересный тест!!!❤❤❤

Wanted that to be Wales (but knew it wasn't)!
Good game, will have to rewatch and muse on a few things... :-)

@kxs7267 absolutely, the geography setting has changed a lot 😊
@@BalletQuiz even when they're not historical ballets, seems like you can still learn a bit of history from them... :-)

15/20. L'idée est excellente. Le ballet est en effet universel et international, et c'est une bonne chose de le souligner. 😊
Merci beaucoup, je suis entièrement d'accord 🙏 🥰

Yes! He's so expressive and powerful! Thank you for watching and playing along ❤
