Great video. Used to fish Larne about 10/15 year ago glad to see it's still fishing well. Have the boat up Portstewart direction these days, some good fishing to be had but still exploring the new areas. Keep up the good work on the channel. It's good to see a Norn Iron based fishing channel instead of south of England all the time.
@@gazjacko1 Hi, thanks a million 🌟👍 Yes the fishing is good its just very late in the season lots of fry and mackerel about finally! Had a great week of weather and perfect conditions but unfortunately only managed to get out the once due to work. Hoping to catch some different species before the years out! A 10lb ling would be nice for the table 😆 And yes you're right about the south of England, people over there don't wana know about our fishing so its nice to hear from locals like yourself , much appreciated. Tight lines 👌 Would like to fish Portstewart sometime 😁
@Barbedhookfishing ling has been illusive for us this season, but the wrecks have been unfishable really with the good weather only coinciding with super spring tides. We were getting massive mackrel this week, the ones that used to show up around and of July start of August. Hopefully thay means the fishing season will be extended. Been a season of firsts for me, caught a few spur dogs, a large bull huss and my favourite a day out Tope fishing. They are good sport. Went to a wreck in Donegal earlier this week and caught a couple of double figure pollock. I think the ban on commercial fishing for pollock has already helped this season. Hopefully they continue with it.
tope are comin into strangford now soon to pup, seen a few 50lbrs lifted got skate too but think you need the licence to target them but if one hit your conger or spurdog flapper what can you do!!, super conditions mate and a nice bitta fishin to boot, we call pollock lythe down here mate and coalies blocking 👍👍🎣
Funnily enough my uncle when he was alive called them the same thing Lythe and Blocking lol I would like to get down to Strangford again ,last time I went it was just for a nosey about! Carlingford lough I hear is good too for the tope? The bigger fish seem to be on the move atm into the shallows , there was Stake caught a month ago off Red Bay pier by a woman musta been 80-100year old. Thing was massive!! Was lucky enough to see a video of it.
@@Barbedhookfishing strangfords got the bigger tope between the too but in defense of carlingford theyve got a good run of bass, strangford was reguarded the best big game fishery in the uk for skate and tope, the great sharkman trevor housby even fished here and wrote about it but the trawlers wrecked the place but its very very slowly comin back, those big skate are something else mate! we had a few lifted last year but nothin massive a heard a 66lbr caught, if you can get decent weather october is the month down here mate
