I literally just got home from seeing them live in Indianapolis. First time seeing them live and I was right up in the front. When the confetti, fog, and balloons all came out once the song picked up, you could see my face was in absolute awe. I had ascended to heaven or something. I was probably close to crying. Honestly, the moment they began playing has made me the happiest I've been all year. Thank you, Flaming Lips. For the best night of the year.
@@Kinslate Nice! Unfortunately, we were waaaay out on the grass so my experience wasn't as intense as yours. (but still a blast...). However, I've been up front at a couple of their other concerts and, yes, it is an experience. No way to explain it to the uninitiated. :)
I went to see them last August.. One of the, of not THE loudest, brightest and biggest concerts i've been to. It's a bit of a tragedy it wasn't a sellout.. But otherwise, unbelieveable! During this part, i was stood right next to the confetti cannons, strobe lights and an amp which was making me vibrate like a mofo!
First of all, this is excellent writing; you probably should try poetry - I think you'd like it better.. Second, it's a bit harsh. Third, why? Because, fourth not everything has to be meta because, fifth there is a simple musical beauty to THE SONG. So, have you lost your knack for always seeing that trappings are secondary?
Sitting here in tears.. saw them live in a similarly sized venue here in Detroit back in 2004. I was 16. They opened the show with Race For The Prize that night too. It was every bit as mesmerizing and beautiful as this. It was honest to god maybe the happiest I've ever felt in my entire life, it honestly felt like I was high on ecstasy or something even though I hadn't taken any. Felt that way for almost 2 weeks afterwards.
saw the flaming lips this past Sunday and was not a fan until now. they were at a music festival where I live and it was the last night in which fireworks are held..which is why I was at the festival..boy did I get a good show.
Look I've seem them and enjoy their music. But this overboard drama by Coyne like he is a conductor on meth, the way too much talking vs singing etc it just too much.
