Glad we are finally getting some actual technical videos like he use to in the past. I understand that he probably had to grow with his audience and that small niche of people watching the originals wasn't going to support the channel so he had to post more life hacks and Gizmos. I like Channels like Great Scott which get really technical and make cool Raspberry Pi and Arduino things. Always makes for a great weekend project.
These series of videos you have released so far are incredible and have really helped me learn more about electronics and soldering in general.
I was up till 3am trying to resolder some broken connections on my mechanical keyboard and failing. It's ruined now. I wake up today and this video is uploaded answering all the questions I had last night. Damn.
Glad you mentioned the gull wing solder tips that are particular designed for this kind of chips.
this was acctually really helpful, never knew how to do that fast soldering of pins. Yay!
love this new turn of this channel
Nice quick video. Btw to make the continuity test with your multimeter easier you can also put the leads in the through-hole sections. It gives you a bit more space than testing on the actual IC pins
Good tip. Thanks!
I love this new series Kipkay! Thanks for making these videos.
parsonsian yes!
Sir! Please keep your great videos coming more
Great Video. Thank you for sharing.
thanks for the video! do i not need to presolder the pads?
Thanks for this!
Kipkay, every time I see you use the conical tip I scream inside. It's so much easier to use a chisel tip for your soldering iron especially for SMD Drag soldering.
Elminator666 or a tip with a small hook on the end can work fairly well...but I do prefer a small chisle tip for almost everything...
I'm more cringing at what the end solder joint looks like...I see excessive solder on the back side...but that's just me coming in as someone who has been through professional soldering and solder inspection training...
Elminator666 who?
drag sodering will be my new skill👍
kip with all these tutorials what is your background?
Thanks for the tips Kip!
taznruby Kip have you the tip. Just the tip and only for a minute.
well, this was one of the easiest SMD soldering scenarios, good luck doing this with barely visible resistors, caps and ICs with a much larger PCB where alligator clips are not applicable. Still, it was useful, thanks for sharing.
thanks for the video. could you also show how you would unsolder a chip from a board? it seems a soldering iron isn't hot enough to do it
try adding fresh tin and flux to the existing solder connections. this will ensure a better heat transfer and lower the melting point.
can you do a explanation on the use of transistors?
Wow, damn fine vid, nail on head! = gold standard- how-to, they all should be this way!
Last time I did SM soldering I destroyed a test pad, lifted a track and "lost" a surface mount resistor.. That board is now a frankenboard with a standard 100 ohm resistor bridging where the track should be.. Never again.
_I need a temperature controlled iron with a smaller tip.. A much smaller tip_
Here's a (probably newb) question... On comercial motherboards, is it possible to upgrade their functionality by adding missing components and then flashing the appropriate bios of said higher model board you are using as reference? Hope that makes sense.
You should be able to.
Questions : How do you know its time to change your soldering iron. And also what is the lowest temperature that your soldering iron can melt solder and keep the drips on the tip?
Answers:
1. - When it stops working.
2. - Depends on your solder and what you're soldering.
thanks a lot for the help dude :)
Just a tip, apply flux to the PCB, tack down the corners then flux all the pins, then do your drag soldering. And do not stay on one pin for too long as you will damage the chip from the heat. This type of chip with proper technique only takes literally 5 seconds to solder. Use a wave tip also.
I approve this message
good show!
your the best essa
That's what I (we) want to see. Not freakin gizmos and gags.
Same here
these educational soldering and DIY videos were the reason why I formerly subscribed...
awesome video
nice video sir.
Sometimes when I solder ICs I'll intentionally bridge an entire side then go back with the solder wick and soak up just enough solder and it usually comes out perfect!
Can you teach us how to solder dc motors?
So what is this thing usualy for in daily lives?
This is sorcery! I'm a modeler. I'm used to things in small scales but this looks impossible to do!
Good
I once tried wrapping a paperclip around my soldering tip because I didn't have any other ones. It didn't work.
Thanks!
Welcome! And Thank you!
Wait what about hot air?
Is it okay to use 40w solder?
little late, but yes, it should work.
@@benchmarking6875 lmao just a tad late
Kipkay how small are these soldering tips? There wasn't any comparison size so I'm not sure if I can just wonder up to a workspace and use any soldering station I find there.
why unlist this?
P yeah why
Can you show us how to upgrade to a 32gb ram in an Asus x551m?
oddly specific
hi kinky i love your vids
I came here for the kinky videos
cool
cool cool
Can you show us how to upgrade a processor
Seriously?
1. Dismount cooler
2. Remove the safety clamp and CPU
3. Insert new CPU
4. Mount cooler
Make sure your CPU and motherboard are compatible.
How to Sah dude a tiny IC chip
SMASH DAT LIKE BUTTON!
Finaly everybosy may see this xD
I need to accomplish this task, and it is absolutely anxiety riddling. Well, here goes….
How did you do?
@@90sNick_Pinesal it was difficult, but it got it done :)
@@JedrekVRoscoe NICE!
kipkay hi
Solder.

hi
challenge: count how many times he says Solder
mrbrianroche impossible
Hexed78 true
mrbrianroche 39 I think
mrbrianroche thanks for the challenge there were 37 mention in this video.
The Baby Zombie well if that is true and you actually counted all of them then you deserve a prize lol.
legend says if ur early kipkay pins the comment
i prefer kipkay tips than gizmo and gags

I'm early...
idk
I love you Kipkay, but "with a steady hand". Looks like your hands shake quite a bit. I guess that's where patients comes in handy.
D Cheverie patience stupidass

can you say my NEMA in your next vidio plz
"You gonna need a smaller tip"
❤❤❤❤❤👌👌🌹
DO A DIY VIDEOOOOOO
He y kipkay it would be awsome if uncomet back
Did you have an aneurysm while typing that comment?
Auto thingy
Instead of auto correct, is that like an "auto uncorrect" that changes correctly spelled words into gibberish like awsome and uncomet?
That's not tiny that's huge
Read the comment above! A lot of people are just starting to learn how to solder including me. I'm so glad I found this channel.
Anonymous user hmmm, so am I new that's why a clicked on but I'm trying to find help with as title says small chips not gigantic chips, the chip I'm trying to do is like 3/4 mm and has 9 solder points.
The size of the chip isn't the point. It's the legs, which are tiny.
i wanna jtag my xbox.
'sodder'
That's how it's pronounced.
Is it pronounced "sohlder"? I learned from Americans who said "sodder"
Not notification squad, just luck
I hate the word solder
ok
hehe smd
it's solder not satter.... Lol
The way he says it is the only way I've ever heard it said via trade & schooling. Probably just depends where you live...just like how people say Aluminum, differently.
It is pronounced with an L. "most people" no, americans... There's the entire rest of the english speaking world that doesn't say it like you do.
End of the day..if the way someone pronounces a word bugs you, you have bigger concerns in life to worry about, or just have so little life that one needs to find entertainment on YT comments.. lol
It doesn't matter how he says it as long as you understand what he means
bloodgain ( me shaking my head with a grin on my face) saying, "GET A LIFE AND A SENCE OF HUMAR"

the intro music hurts my ears
1:35 what size is the tip? Is it 1.2mm? If not, can you tell me the size of the tip? Thanks
