i rode that first rambles that day. it was such a fun trip and 2102 performed flawlessly. she looked and sounded fantastic. it was nice to walk around jim thorpe. im tempted to ride it again in september.
We all want a Reading T-1 Reunion with 2102, 2124 and 2100, and don’t forget about 2101 that is still AFT 1 and is at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, she needs to be saved too! Anyway great catch and well done!
Unfortunately with all of the fire Damage done to 2101, it has been estimated that building a brand spanking new 2101 would be far more economical then trying to rebuild her. The fire damage was just too great.
Her sheer size and power reminds me of 611 from your previous videos. Both are doing what they were built to do by their respective railroads! Awesome work!
This might be an unpopular opinion but I think it would've been nice to see the NS Reading Lines Heritage Unit sitting at the station next to Reading 2102, but I was on the first Iron Horse Rambles in the cab of 2102 as a birthday present
The diesel is usually there because of modern technology requirements, a city not liking anything cool claiming that iT’s a FiRe hAzArd, or because some over preservative and underfunded museum doesn’t want to run the engine to hard. What’s great about 2102 is they are running it like an actual road back in the day would have to to make money. That means more repairs, but like I said this is how the railroads made a profit.
The driving wheels are slipping on the wet rails. Direct drive (no transmission on a steam locomotive) so the slipping can be heard in the exhaust beats.
Nice footage. Great to see a steam locomotive working hard on a heavy train WITHOUT a stinking diesel helper!
It sure is!
Love the sound of that beautiful locomotive, glad to see it back in service.
perfect pure sound video
Thanks
I may look into booking a trip one of these days.

Absolutely love this footage. Definitely gonna get the DVD/Blu-Ray when it comes out.
Just released Volume 1. There will be 2 additional volumes out next month.
Awesome!
I’m very happy Reading 2102 is back after it sat in idle for 31 years.
Great video and write up. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was so excited to see it again on July 2nd but I just found out I have work that day
It's really cool to listen to a T1 work hard it's interesting that the loud shotgun exhaust nearly drowns out the whistle which is pretty cool

@@FrankRHa1 I heard, it’s sad!
I was there on the trip, Mother Nature couldn't make up her mind
Another dynamite video James. What a beast of a engine those T1’s are.

I like to think of your channel as the successor of Berkshire Productions/yardgoatimages.
It's the Iron Horse Rambler!
Awesome video 😎
Thanks!
Very nice this video 👍
The last passenger car used to be in the old Norfolk southern steam excursion trains

Jetta's Dad, & Grandma!
3:42 I've seen/heard this on several videos, why does it make this sound?

@@Steamtrainvideos thank you, I guess I didn't take into account it was raining. Quite cool!
Sometimes the wheels slip on wet rails
