Get a Granvia. It is pretty much the same van except with a hood. I'm 5"10 and I have no problem with headroom and legroom. Lesser engine noise too since the engine is mounted upfront. If all the supports are good, vibration is no more than that of a gas engine. If you can, get one with dual sliding doors so that your passengers will not be loading and unloading on the traffic side.
I know toyota is awesome for reliability, but what kind of maintenance and repairs do you think the turbo diesel will need down the road? Most of the importers seem to change out lots of components like timing belt, water pump etc, but what about injectors and such? Is it something a guy could maintain in his garage at home?
From what I've heard the 1kz is an incredibly reliable engine, but I made a separate video about changing out the timing belt on mine so you can get a better view of servicing one of these. Due to where the engine is it's not quite as simple as opening the hood but it should be manageable for an at home mechanic in my opinion.
@@HangarGaraj intercooler just improved reliability and some other things but not really no. The intercooler version is just slightly better performance while the engine is cold otherwise when it’s warmed it it’s frankly the same just intercooler has like 140hp I believe normal non intercooler has 136-131 and 260-275lb-ft over 360nm To maximize poweroutput without much modification. Just change up the pumps solenoid and get a full straight exhaust without a cat and you’ll get 150 horsepower and 410nm I believe without any expansive modifications
@@HangarGaraj 128hp and 212 Lb-ft is from the 1KZ-T I believe before they made it electronically fuel injected. The mechanical pump made less power sooo yeah that’s probably why
Interesting, all the research I did shows me almost identical power figures in the 1kzt vs the 1kzte non intercooled, and then a power bump with the intercooler.
@@HangarGaraj kinda depends on the source. With me here I have a literal manual booklet that my parents kept while they bought the hiace brand new. It makes 261 for mines and 135 hp 0-100 in 7.1 second open rear diff blah blah blah you get all of it. Mines up to date makes rn 139 and 398nm I did a flash tune nothing fancy. But it most important thing I did was modified the electronical pump to dump more fuel in so it makes slightly more power. But 1KZ TE makes more power. Than 1KZ T but I won’t lie 1KZ T pumps fail less often than the TE variant I’ve went through 2 pumps in the lifespan of 760K kilometers
Great video… picking one of these up in Ogden Utah tomorrow!
Thank you for making this!
I’m deciding between this and a delica and highway driving is my main concern!
L400 gas for highway
Thanks for making the video. My super custom limited is coming soon as is the same madel just has the hot cool box ice maker and kettle option
Very cool! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for making this man!
“Aerodynamics like a stick of butter”lol! 😂 Thank you for making this video! Super helpful and informative 👍
New subscriber here. Awesome channel, looking forward to the next videos.
Thanks!
Most people in the market it was sold in is much shorter than we are, which explains the lack of headroom

Hi. Didn’t see or hear you mention the “OVERDRIVE” button on the gear stick. It gives you another gear. All the best. From Australia.
Now some JDM vehicles may struggle in states with Higher speed limits. (States that have at least a 80 MPH speed limit on interstates).
The 1KZ is also found from Toyota Tamaraw Revo

Are hiace vans legal for everyday use in pennsylvania?
What kind of mileage are you getting in it?
I have a super extra. You could be 6'5 and wear a helmet and not hit the ceiling
Can I buy one in Mexico and live in California? I've read that 20 years old cars can be imported.
Usually anything 25 years or older can be imported and made road legal, but California may be different
California is super tricky with registration.
Btw these things came with 260lb-ft not 212 😁
Is that not the intercooled power figure?
