Thanks Vod, i get frustrated with other channels and resto series that either never have an ending or just get seemingly abandoned with no conclusion, so im keen to get back to working on the Leyland again. Im relieved the project is over, but im glad i shared it with everyone. Thank you for watching, ill certainly be shooting some roadtrips with the Jag
Greetings from ferntree gully victoria....😂.Im both sad and happy ...ive loved the 420 Godzilla adventure 😂 sad its over.. happy you did it👍👍.just bought the last 2 rear indicator lenses from Jagdaim for my 420 compact .rear suspension is out for resto . Ill be watching the P 76 restoration👀👍✋️👀
Thanks for watching all my videos Robinator! Your support meant alot for wanting to put out videos, keep us updated about your 420, the resto series is over, but more video content will come out about the 420G, just not in the perspective of a comprehensive overhaul anymore. I hope the Leyland series will keep you interested :)
My older brother had one of these in the early 1970s I loved going out in it was about 12 yrs old the dash looked great at night the instruments lit up with green lights
Thanks so much for being a repeat commenter, people like yourself really helped me get over that finish line! Im glad i could shoot an episode outside of the carport for once, it was a very nice abandoned shed by the creek for the final shot
Hope you like Eudanda then, which is where the car had been resting for 30 years neglected before being sold off at a deceased estate auction that sold the car to the junkyard where i then bought the car from. I know the house in the town where it was, and Mt Mary is only a stones throw away from there. Itll be a fun episode! Im just waiting on a decent set of plates that wont get me into trouble to arrive in the post to do so. Thanks for watching and being a repeat commenter, it helped out heaps for wanting to put out episodes :)
Haha sweet bellbottoms, maing! That opening scene was killer. And the tail sliding oversteer was great! It seems to control it VERY well. My 420 compact seems to have more body roll. Gots to figure that out. Taking off @1:01, yours does have some funny sounds. One noise does sound like a timing chain or a pully bearing. Another noise sounds like maybe an exhaust leak? Not sure. We are both new to these engines, me more-so. Also almost sounds stifled. Like when the cat is plugged on a newer car. More on this car would be cool. Like maybe more on driving impressions, etc.
You have a very keen ear! That was actually a timing chain rattle that i only started to notice when i began driving it around, it just needed to be retensioned by taking the front breather off and turning the tensioner counter clockwise (think of it as reverse/left hand thread) and give it a tighten up. Another reason i can give is the fact i was using the D2 position on the column selector, which is more of a driving mode than a gear selector, which only uses 2nd and 3rd gear (and starts in 2nd gear on take off), essentially treating the 3spd auto as a 2spd auto, which certainly effects how standing acceleration sounds. I should be using D1 which uses all 3 gears, or L that uses 1st and 2nd only. Its a strange auto gearbox and not one that im used to, but i hear that Land Rovers also used a similar style, so maybe its a pommy way of setting up a gearbox. Those bellbottoms are home made! i essentially sewed a black triangle into a pair of black jeans because flared pants are too expensive, ive done it to pretty much half the pants i own because i just adore the look. She handled the slide very well, in the future ill have to give it the Scandinavian Flick to initiate it more effectively, my old CM Valiant would slide out on a manoeuvre like this but the 420G is capable with a bit more elegance to maintain its composure. Check your sway bar bushes on the front end and make sure your radius arm bushes on the IRS are in good condition, because the sway bar will determine how much it 'rolls' in a corner (upsetting balance) and the radius arm on the rear will make sure your cradle is still tracking straight when subject to sideload forces of a slide. I have at least 2 more episodes planned for the old girl, the restoration is over but the content can still be made. Im planning on a review, a roadtrip to its former resting place, and maybe a supercut of all 25 episodes into a single hour long presentation. Thanks for watching and your continued support :)
@@cutcat8437 Thanks, that's good advice on checking the rear end bushings. Yeah I'm planning on czecking the front sway bar bushings. Had no idea those auto trans. could be shifted like that. It for sure would make it sound different from a start. '70s sh!t rules! Most all my shirts are from the '70s I found on the cheap in 2nd hand shops back in the '90s - early 2000s. Lotta Western stuff (US of A). Polyester lasts for frigging EVER! :)
Thanks for the indicator lens! It helped get the car through the roady and i can enjoy this fantastic classic, the hubcaps on the car were also from your old man dont forget :)
Well done - you are in a very select group: those who have finished a project! Enjoy driving it - hope we can come along on some of the trips!

Lovely shape, looks even better in the grass there and black definitely the best colour.
