  • 4. TYPE 2 LOCOMOTIVES - 1001 TO 1499 BHP
This is part one of Part 4 a 9-Part Series of videos I made some years ago now. This video covers all locomotives from Class 21 to Class 31.
    =================================================================================
The simple concept was to gather stills photos "gathered" from various online sources of ALL current operational UK Diesel Locomotives in operation or "Preserved" on various Heritage Railways around the country.
Clearly as a result some "Copyrighted" material was utilised and simply due to the sheer scale of the number of photos involved I wasn't able to credit ALL Copywrite Owners individually.
As a result can I state here that it was never and still is in no way meant to be a knowing infringement of those owners rights. I simply wanted to create a single source "Multimedia Database" that could be turned into a simple "Slideshow" style video for general viwing my other UK Railway Nuts similar to myself.
I hope those Copyright Owners understand my true intentions and will forgive my imposition in this way. If for whatever reason any of those owners is unhappy when they see the use of any of their images then please contact me and I will renove the said image(s) and re-publish the video.
I am currently on with an "Updating Review" of ALL 9-Parts to bring the photos and the related ownership and location data up to date. Once completed the revised videos will be posted on here.
Thanks for viewing, please feel free to comment irrespective of your feedback being positive or negative - all views are welcome here.

The last class 21 and class 29 locos were cut up in 1973. The class 21, 22 and 29 locos were withdrawn in 1968 due to lack of spare parts, because of the demise of the North British Locomotive Company in 1962.
ironically, Hornby's so called blue liveried class 29 number 6142 was always a class 21, in real life. It should be green liveried.
The only class 21 painted blue was 6109, which was withdrawn in 1968.

Incredibly in depth knowledge Andy. This sort of information will be really useful to me when I get to reviewing this video. [No.4 in the series of 9]
I'm currently well on with video No.2 "Large Shunters". This means it will hopefully be mid summer by the time I get to reviewing and updating this one.
Thanks again for taking the time to Comment. All yours and others input is greatly appreciated. 👍🏻

at 3.06 the location of class 25283 looks like it's at guidebridge stabling yard near ashton under-Lyne North Manchester!!!

Your knowledge is far greater than mine. What I have found out about this loco (which I think is still preserved) is best summarised in this following web page (www.derbysulzers.com/25283.html). In terms of date the loco was TOPS renumbered from D7633 to 25 283 on 27-Feb-1974. It was then finally renumbered to 25 904 on 12-Nov-1985. If you read through the notes from the web page above for the interim period then you are spot on and it is highly likely that 25 283 spent time stabled in the sidings at Guide Bridge in between a multitude of mixed traffic duties covering the NW, Mids, S West, N Wales and Scotland.
Thanks for your comment, interest and shared knowledge. I'm now approx 1/3 way through revising Video #1 in this 9 film series (1. Small Shunters) having just completed the last of the Class 03s today. The new video is now in 16:9 aspect ratio meaning it views as widescreen via mst modern smart TVs and PC monitors. I've updated virtually ALL the photos for the preserved locos and aim to rejig the soundfiles so the "soundtrack" is more seamless. The Class Title Screens also now carry a little more summary info on how many locos were built, when and through to how how many still remain in preservation which is of course now up to date.
I also hope to add links to the next video in the series at the end of each video. I might even have a "Video Link" screen with links to ALL videos in the series. Just having to learn how to do all this stuff having only recently just started really messing around with UA-cam publishing.

@@dave1966red I'm sure it's at guide Bridge as there was always class 25s + class 40s and class 08 shunters on site in the late 1970s early 80s and yes this class 25 is still preserved to this day I think there is 30 left in preservation out of 327 built!!!

@justinobrien3593 - it's apparently still owned by the Dean Forest Railway. They've put it up for sale. When reading info on t'internet after your reply it was reported on Wikipedia that it's in storage in Stoke on Trent. Not sure where but obviously there's a number of active sites at Longport, Oakamoor, Cheddleton and a few more too.
