    I live 4.5 hours from your facility. I would drive that distance to have Dr. Lydia take care of my Service dog and best friend.
    Dr. Lydia, it's been a long time since I've seen such a talented vet with so much love and caring for animals.
    I love that there is a site where I can watch you work your magic!

      I live in SC and I took would drive to Tenn if my beloved dog needed help. Dr. Lydia is one of a kind, she has a full plate being married and with children and she just works to hard she gets my respect for that alone, but as you said JMiller, the compassion and care and talent she has is outstanding. I think all of us fans should be sending little care boxes to her and also to her sidekick Dr Gina who is getting the best on the job training alongside Dr. Lydia. If I am not mistaken , I don't think Dr Gina had been out of Vet school too long before going to Horse Plus. Whatever....these ladies rock and Horse Plus is so blessed by them being on staff. As to little care packages for them, I bet if we call there, the office people can make some suggestions that are personalized . I know I am going to do that and it will be fun when they open them as whenever a fan sends stuff they generally give the opening of them a short inclusion in an episode.

    Thank you for being boots on the ground so quickly after the tornadoes in Tennessee. As a horse owner, fires and tornadoes were my two biggest fears. I can't imagine how terrifed the owners of the horses at that boarding stable must have been, knowing a tornado was bearing down on their beloved horses and not being able to do a thing about it. I'm so thankful they all survived. I hope their wounds will heal quickly and fully.

    I LOVE seeing horses adopted, but could we have some disclaimers that novice rider who is **just** learning to ride and an unstarted colt are not generally a recommended combination. Wanting kids to have a foal to grow up with is a red flag that most sellers and rescue orgs shy away from because the chance of safety and long term success is slim.
    Just putting that out there so it doesn’t become a popular trend.

    • @bridgetveralidaine3761
      @bridgetveralidaine3761 4 місяці тому +9

      @@keojiabrown6807 green + green = black and blue. I got my own horse at a young age, but he was already started and I had been riding for a number of years and was the general "barn rat" that couldn't be extracted from the stable, and didn’t think about anything but horses.
      It was still a dubious, and at times dangerous, combination.
      He was my heart horse and taught me a lot about life, but the smarter choice would have been something older with more mileage that I could learn from and enjoy, rather than white knuckling and losing my confidence a few times. I'm sure he would have been happier if I was more balanced and skilled.

      @myssakay 4 місяці тому +5

      I don’t disagree, but we don’t know the context. I’m sure they were well-checked and at least one parent has plenty of experience for them to feel comfortable adopting out the horse to them.

    • @HughLlewellyn
      @HughLlewellyn 4 місяці тому +10

      That idea has been popular since before I was born. But it's not something Horse Plus would consider when looking at adoption candidates. They insist on experienced riders, or adopters with trainers in their screening process before they'll match green horses with them. So maybe the adopter is a novice, but they most certainly have a trainer who will be working with the horse and rider if Horse Plus approved that adoption.

Did they move it from the location that they plan to build the small animal clinic or are they remodeling it for the small animal clinic ? And I had thought that the vet barn already handled small and large animals ? I am ding danged confused here ! Lol ! Oh ! I had read a comment suggesting a more comfortable setting for Elijah to work on the horses . I am guessing that he will be working out of the new climate controlled intake barn . :)

    Congrats to Horse Plus Humane Society on all of the fun and exciting things that are happening! I do hope and pray that Baby Dolly feels better soon! Also, I love to see the chestnut Quarter horse filly named : Mystic ! She is so beautiful and I have been looking for a young horse to train! I live in Arizona so I don't know how I can travel to Tennessee? From, Cowgirl Amy 🤠❤🐎

    I'm sorry but a new young rider, new to horses, should get a well broke older horse to learn on. Ya know the old saying: "Green on green equals black and blue". Just my opinion. Even though Pilgrim is going to be a nice horse, I hope they have a trainer and riding coach set up for they young man.

    Such a bad idea for kids who have no horse experience to adopt a totally unbroken young horse. Mom’s thinking that they “can grow up together “ is just wrong. Best thing for this kid is an older schoolmaster who will be SAFER as he learns to ride and care for horses.
    Why does Horse Plus not do a better job counseling potential adopters??!!!
