Just first time mounted one of these on my Tiguan. The top hooks did not just drop in easily per this vid as there is not enough of a gap. Had to feed them in from the side with the hatch open a few inches. Bit of a struggle on my own. Very pleased with the carrier though. Super rigid and easy to use.
Here's a tip if anyone else is having same problem as I, so that those tightening knobs at 2:10 are just spinning freely and not tightening the belt at all. You just have to keep spinning them for a while until they start tightening the belt.
I have difficulties seeing how to mount the plastic spoiler strap, could you show how to do it in a video - please. The instruction manual does not help me.

I just purchased this and unfortunately the cable traps that goes on the top of the trunk arent long enough to reach. If I adjust the lower legs, the support pegs will go over the rear windshield wiper. I have a 2023 mazda cx-5. Any advice?

Doesn't work with Renault Megane 3 Grandtour (Kombi)... I don't want mount bikes on roof and I don't have hook. Is any another platform compatible with Megane 3 Grandtour?
How do you ensure that both the left and right side have the same pressure? The steel rope on the left side was very tight, on the right side a bit looser. It seemed ok but when I arrived at my destination the middle bar was on the right not attached to the body anymore. So I'd need to make sure next time they're equally tight.
You tighten both sides separately until they have a good fitting as shown in the manual. SInce there are two wires with two tighteners you will not get the exact same pressure on both sides with one motion.

Was asking myself the same. I think since it's hardened glass, the window will not break, because the area of pressure is big enough. Car windows will break when hit by small hard materials, e.g. small stones.
Has anyone tried mounting it with the contact points below the glass? Have a 2019 jeep compass and the rack / bike sits very high following these instructions.
If you place the feet on the metal of the hatch the metal will be pressed in and a dent created. That is why you place the feet at the lowest part of the rear window.
Hi there Richard! We advise to use towbar mounted bike carriers as they can take heavier bikes and has a higher max bike weight. @@thule hmm I really tried with no luck, the arm's claw really wants to hold the frame at the specific location where a bottle cage can be attached, so I went with dismounting it… not so big of a deal. Maybe it depends on the frame or bike geometry? Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hier fehlt ein ganz wichtiges Detail bei ca. 3:34. Bevor man das Rad mit dem "Festmacher" festschrauben kann, muss das Schloss des Festmachers aufgeschlossen werden. Tut man das nicht, kann man es nicht festschrauben! Blöderweise werden diese Teile offenbar serienmäßig mit abgeschlossenem Schloss verkauft. Was haben wir geflucht, bis wir letztlich die Lösung fanden....

In the middle of the highway, I nearly lost my bike. There was wind but i wasnt driving faster than 110 km/h. My bike flipped horizontally, basically hanging attached to the wheels. I don't want to think of what could have happened if it had fell off. @thule I hope you can help with a solution here; I'm on a 7 day holiday and am very hesitant to drive the car back home with my bike attached like that.
@@Yves86 Hi Yves, sorry to hear about the incident. When you drive in windy conditions you need to lower the top speed and also make sure the bikes are attached correctly so the arms cannot slide along the frame to a thinner area and release.
@@thule Well, the top speed that you recommend is 130 km/hr. I reduced my speed to 100-110. Below that is even dangerous to be driving on the highway. Secondly, the bike was attached correctly. I heard the 'click' sounds twice, it was locked. The product, in my view, is untrustworthy and i'd like to send it back.
@@thule I did that and they don't accept it because they say I have no way of proving that it was installed correctly. In the meantime, I've bought another Thule model, the Outway Hanging. I would ofcourse never do that if the other model was working like it should.
