flavor flav is a legend - i saw PE in concert and he went on the drums and that was one of the best performances i have ever seen from the entire group and his drumming was out of this world. cube talks about that, the guy can play multiple instruments without ever learning notes.

I saw Public Enemy with the Beasties with a group that opened called Murphy’s Law in The Spectrum in South Philly back in the 80’s. First tour. Awesome show. Went with a white friend of mine and he was like WOW, who are these dudes with the Uzi’s? He became a PE fan on the spot! Big party!!

My friend knew nothing about them until that siren hit the building. “Peace, Armageddon it been in effect, go get a late pass”!!! Griff started it off with S1W step show, and then history was made. Hip hop culture was in effect, Gee!
My very first and only time ever experiencing a Hip-hop concert was in 1987-88 in Gainesville Florida. It was Stetsasonic, Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff, Run-DMC, and Public Enemy!!! When Public Enemy finally came out, it was sirens and Flav came down on a rope and it was on from there. We were all literally dancing on top of our chairs!!! University Ave....Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Memories, man!!!

That was 1986 and I was 21 and in college, working graveyard shift. Making 80’s union money made more sense to me. Great era for our generation. I tell kids today that our age group was the beginning of Hip Hop, B Boy, Rap. We were 12, 13, when it hit mainstream basement parties. DJ’s that had exclusive collections of the hottest beats. What a time to have been young, the 80’s. To ruin it, they (media, government) inserted Crack into the cities and into the music, with videos of hustlers and women with no clothes on. It was sad to watch my beloved Hip hop go that route. Sad to watch my people fall for it too.

Funny story, i went to a Snoop Dogg/Ice Cube concert with my wife and best friend. I went to see Snoop, but ended up being blown away by Ice Cube and WC's energy and performance, best concert of my life. Snoop Dogg was boring in comparison. The bass from Ice Cube was so intense that my wife passed out, had to bring her to first aid, and then i had to help my best friend to a chair because he was about to pass out too

Dope ass interview, FLAV. NWA had WATTS on fire with DOPEMAN and Boyz In the Hood. I remember when Cube's first cousin and I were pledging Alpha Phi Alpha at UCLA, he would tell all about Cube and NWA, I didn't believe Cube was his cousin at first. I would go back home to Watts on weekends to hang out with my young nephew and listen to all the mixtapes he had. Those were the days being all over the city. I remember when P.E. came up to UCLA, that shit was fire. I got pictures of you and Chuck chilling with all the students, Ice T was there too. Special times FLAV, thanks for the memories.
