Cruelty squad is incredible because the dev had to deliberately break every UI design rule and still make the game comprehensible to the player. Weirdly enough, it works.
Games like Cruetly Squad, Ultrakill, and Fear & Hunger make me question if finnish indie game developers are doing well.
Clearly this is peak human mentality as Finland is the happiest country currently.
This is what happy and mentally stable people produce.
I am joking, these devs are individuals who may have problems that dont reflect the overall sensus for Finland. But still its funny to see these insane creations come from what is technically the happiest place in society.
I know this is a joke but a persons creations does not always reflect their state of mind

Even though there doesn't _seem_ on the surface to be any kind of narrative; there actually is one.
And I'm not the only one who feels this way.
After Markiplier played it about a year ago, he looked in the game reviews and someone left a post talking about how the game is supposedly a representation of Capitalism, or at least "Pure, Unfiltered" Capitalism, with no restrictions, no safeguards or limitations against corruption, against monopolies, against onion futures, or unequal standards of living.
You play as a PTSD and depression-afflicted former soldier (officially referred to as "MT Foxtrot," which if you know military alphabet lingo, you'd know is a punny acronym for "Empty Fuck," which is basically what the character is at this point) who has their quote-unquote "Friend" hit them up with a job offer, promising them beneficial employment, but also regularly insulting them, making fun of their mental trauma, telling them that no one else would bother to associate with them, but that he sees some value in using them, and that if you work with them, they'll both be going places (which should tell you enough about what kind of "Friend" this guy is).
During missions, he also freely admits to signing you up, without your consent, mind you, for body mod experimentation and lacing your drink with a potent "cocktail to enhance your performance in battle," again without asking you if you're okay with it, and only gives you the barest hints on how to proceed (he does at least tell you _who_ your target is and _why_ they're marked for death by you; beyond that, he doesn't elaborate on ANYTHING else, not the pay, not giving you words of encouragement, or anything; he just passive-aggressively mocks you and calls you things like 'Buddy' or 'Pal,' taking charge of your life, while you let him get away with it... at least until you go for the ending where you actually *_CHOOSE_* to actively fight back and assert yourself).
The NPCs are either the emotionally/ mentally-numbed wage-slave workers who mindlessly perform their tasks, fearful of being laid off with no pay or worker's comp, being told to put everything (including their sanity and physical health) on the line if it means making their bosses fatter stacks of cash, or they are the morally-bankrupt, solipsistic bosses themselves, who endlessly brag about their materialism, their fabulous wealth, and tacky, showy displays of wealth that only serve to make them _more_ grotesque and hideous when compared to the worker NPCs, like they went through one too many plastic surgery enhancements, and just look 100% fake and artificial, never stopping to say anything other than themselves, their achievements, complain about how lazy their workers are, and commenting on how poor _you_ look to them!

@@kelby1810 I wouldn't know; I don't watch Pyrocynical, on account of what's been said about him.
I do, however, remember somebody else saying that when Pyrocynic asked the developer, the developer merely stated, in as brief and vague a way as possible 'Oh; I dunno. I just put that in there!' or something to that effect.
I don't believe (refuse to believe, even) that this game was 100% a troll.
At most, I'd wager it was 55% troll humor, 45% some truth, facts, and social commentary.
Because there _ARE_ consistent themes in here about money, about the endless grind to make more, and the world supposedly being uglier or worse because of that.
Even if a large chunk of it was a joke, there has to be some seriousness to it.
Nobody would expend this much effort just to do nothing with it. Just to laugh it off as 'Just Kidding! Tee-Hee!' Because that is just... that's beyond weird and stupid! Confounding! _WHY?!?!_
I'd like to put a notion before you. It is a world where no one can really die. Revival is cheap. Are you sure you play as any kind of assassin? I've come to think that you are just hired entertainment for the rich. Kind of a surprise party with bullets.
@kelby1810 I'm pretty sure the developer gave the response for people getting a bit too introspective and philosophical about the game and gave the equivalent of Yoko Taro saying why he gave 2B a very detailed big ass. That is to say everything that you can glean from the surface of the commentary is what there is. There is no deeper meaning.
Also Yoko Taro's response was he just really likes sexy women. To further the prior elaborated point.

But, I guess I'm just a very melancholic, introspective person.
Struggling to find meaning in chaos and randomness because of how much the randomness hurts my mind and eyes.
Something done nihilistically, with no real end goal in sight, is something I just cannot fathom. and in more egregious, extreme examples of people not doing anything with what they put effort into, I flat out think they're insane and/ or dumb.
I don't enjoy being taken for a ride, especially one that induces seizures and severe stress, only to find out that it was entirely pointless, that I'm not getting money or a job position or fulfilling some ancient destiny or achieving...SOMETHING, _anything_ , after going through all of that!

in short, the dev of this game spent unholy amount of time thinking about every single aspect of this game. Then he spent twice as much trying to make it look like he didn't think about it.
Also, his works have been presented in actual real world museums. (the first part is mostly a joke. I don't actually know)

I was very certain Max0r said his next video would be on Armored Core 6 so i was both saddened and enlightened with face melt technology when i saw this was his new video.
Of all the Max0r ive sat through and binged this is the closest I've come to it replicating various combined overdoses all at once. All from a game where the protagonist looks like roblox sethzenteech put on green sunglasses to fight the anti-spirals.

Max0r isn't the best first impression of the game sadly. He is entertaining sure, but you never get the notion that this is a FPS game where you can take your time. Heck parts of this game can be considered optional slow stealth sections. If you like guns then you would like this game. It has about 50 and most of them are modeled after either real guns or prototypes that never made it into production. Cruelty Squad is an amazing game. Overwhelmingly positive on steam. The gunplay is a lot of fun, and the lore goes so deep not only can we have discussions about it for days, but at one point I was considering making a religion based upon an idea inside this game. Do you still read comments btw?
As you can see he didn't like your comment so not anymore, and you're absolutely right, max0r really doesn't do justice to Croissant Squat, i suggest pyrocinical's video, it's VERY long, but he goes over everything that's worth noting, even goes so far as to make a tierlist of weapons, augmentations, and enemies, etc. It's worth the watch.
