Tom Landry was a CLASS act. He put aside his differences with Jerry Jones, and the DEEP hurt of being abruptly fired 41/2 years befor and told by Jones to clean out his office, to join Jerry on the stage for this celebration. Coach, you earned our respect!!!
No disrespect. I appreciate Coach Landry and Bob Lilly but when it comes to the Cowboys. It starts and end's with #12. If Roger started his career at the age of 23 instead of 27 he would be the GOAT not Brady...
He ran everything on that team, personally. He had assistants and coordinaters...but during the games, they were spectators. In the early 80s, I had a chance to meet him when he spoke at our school in Ft. Worth. Great man and class act.
Tom Landry is a legend. He was an innovator and a winner. Twelve times in an 18 year span he led the Cowboys to playing in championship games. He coached the Cowboys to five of them, and winning twice with two of the greatest teams of all time. What have the Cowboys won since 1996? How many championship games have they played in? No Super Bowls! Just the same old crap of three or four losing seasons before making the playoffs, only to lose in the Wild Card round. Then at some point they will peak with another one and done season before losing in the next few years.
The way the Cowboy organization and its dishonorable owner Jerry Jones treated the first-class Tom Landry is despicable. And in case you're wondering, this is a Steelers fan who wrote these words.
I remember watching his funeral service as it was broadcast live on a local tv station in Dallas-I'm usually not a very emotional person but I started weeping like a baby during that! RIP Coach Landry you are truly missed Sir! A class act all the way around
I remember this game. When Dak got a perfect QB rating, Troy Aikman had a 158.2 rating against the Giants in this game before he strained his hamstring and missed a couple of games.
Three years earlier Tom Landry was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990. Being inducted into the Ring of Honor. A lot of teams have a Ring of Honor or Wall of Fame or Honor. All of the players except Chuck Howley, and Don Meredith are not in the Pro Hall of Fame
he's right about lilly throwing the helmet further than morton could throw the ball .. craig morton..Landry stuck with him one year too long..staubach would have given them a better chance to beat the colts in 1970 ....
Jimmy Johnson isn't in the ring of honor? Wow. Without the 90's. The Cowboys would not still be considered Americas Team. No Way. That alone should get Jimmy in ASAP!
@@jasoneaton9477 Ya know what. Jerry Jones is a joke anymore. He goes against everything my favorite player of all-time (Roger Staubach) was all about. America's team became America's team because of Coach Landry, Roger, Tony D, Jimmy johnson, Emmit, Troy, Michael etc. Sad to say, but WE(the cowboys) have become a laughing stock.
@@PaulRobert474 well I'm anti jerry..I refuse to root for them until he's outta here.. he hit my breaking point years ago.. I just enjoy the sport now.. i keep telling people theres a curse on Jerry until Jimmy is in the ring of honor.. it's no joke
J.J. was not the person to introduce coach Landry for this honor. It could have been a player maybe? Staubach would have been my pick. Not Jerry though.
That shit was funny to me. I also especially love the subtle dig at him that Tom Landry made when he thanked the Mara family and said that he wished that Clint Murchison could be there and talked about what a great owner he was. Coach Landry had nothing but class but he knew how to make a point without being negative about it.
THE COACH! BEST COACH EVER. COACHED offense & def & HC. WHO ELSE DOES THAT? HE DID IT FOR 29yrs. AN GREAT MAN! LOVE COACH LANDRY.

Tom Landry R.I.P.
Is there anyone else that has more class than this man in sports? I’m listening.
Love Tom so much
THE greatest Cowboy ever, Coach Tom Landry. Bob Lilly, aka Mr. Cowboy, is a great runner-up.

@@PaulRobert474 Roger was great but I still have Landry as #1 and Mr. Cowboy as #2.
Just my opinion.
Fair enough!

The epitome of class and character.

Why did Jerry take away their skybox and season pass tickets?

How would a knuckle-dragging, homer troll, such as yourself, go about making an informed decision on that claim?

Tells you a lot about the man that he used his entire speech--literally--to talk about and honor his players, with hardly a word about himself.
What a great man !

So sick of dak and these modern players, no class at all. Troy, Emitt, and Landry were model citizens.
