With the recorded version now on Spotify, it’s quite crazy how different the lyrics are, also crazy how much better they sound live than recorded! Maybe because I’ve listened to this version too much I just can’t get used to the recorded version. Still, my favourite band ❤️
I've seen Sleaford Mods every time they've played Glasgow and every time the venue gets bigger. For 2 guys, they radiate more energy, honesty and aggression than some fully kitted out bands.
What a load of crap. When you're singing about previously holding down 3 management positions but have thrown it away because you can't keep your fingers off the twenties then I don't think you're the voice of dissent against the government. You're the voice of everything that's wrong with this country and by suggesting otherwise you're insulting the real working class like the hard working steel workers that have recently lost their jobs.
Don't take everything Sleaford Mods say in their music so literally mate. Mr Williamson may of held down three management positions, but he's also old enough and wise enough to have done a lot of shit - like most people his age, myself included. For the first time in a long time the 'Mods are talking about things that matter...they can express the fact the tories don't give a shit about me, you, or anything except themselves and use their music for a rant. I'm sure they are probably also as angry as you and me are about the closure of the steelworks. Me?...I'm just glad to have something new I can listen to and relate to. All the best chap.
Saw the Lads year after 'stumbling' across their old, sex pistols sampled stuff of a late night UA-cam adventure. Instant fan. This performance is just brilliant and their live show is this for 2 hours...I've been around for a long time, seen some of the gretaest bands, big and small, but these two lads on stage with a laptop was the greatest show I have ever witnessed. No gimmicks, no flashy costumes or fireworks and Andrew jumping about is the closest you're getting to a back up dancer... no props,.nothing...just Jason's incredible stage presence, Andrew's skills on display and the balance he brings to Jason. SMF-FSM
Met Jason on a plane coming back from Berlin. Level-headed, familyman with good business acumen. It was good to confirm that Tied Up In Notts was filmed on the 45 bus to Gedling.

Sparrowhawk yes was pissed when I wrote it. Was thinking of only that those at the top went bankrupt and lost their own money (probably under their bed arf) . Just hate the big divide.
Fair enough, but i reckon the reality of bankruptcy is that the people at the top still make it out fine by liquidating assets while average Joe just loses his barely minimum wage job
when the job person asked me what job I would want to do, I answered one that doesn't make me want to end my life. can totally relate. I am ok. life is gift.

These Tory cunts are heartless, and they’re creating more misery for millions of people. Picking on the poor and disabled in our community, shame on them.
I've been listening music for 50 years seeing it all the sex pistols Ian Dury buzzcocks the jam then into acid house clubs party's and now I'm 55 still aving it..but Ave never seen a more original band than these ..wow...can of strongbow I'm a mess 😮😮😮
The message is so real yet the guy next to him holding a beer like he just got plucked from the nearest pub and they said "here, drink up and just enjoy yourself" almost made me piss my pants! Great performance, gimme some more please!
A shade of Ian Dury in the sarcasm and style of lyrics and delivery. Fukin great stuff. JCC was the 1st guy I ever saw on stage. I was a young punk at my 1st gig, Siouxsie and the Banshees and this bloke comes on. I thought he was goin to introduce the support band and he starts doin "poetry" I thought WTF is this? for about 30 seconds and then I was totally into it and have been for over 40 years. Ja... an aging celtic punk and descendant af Druids
Anyone who was a teenager here in California back in the late 70's and early 80's would remember well the origins of punk, and would probably agree that if you could time-travel, you could take the music of the Sleaford Mods and put it on the sound system of the Odyssey in West LA, on a Wednesday night (punk night) and it would fit in perfectly. Sleaford Mods are the best thing to come along in a very, very long time.
Well, these guys are just the latest in a long line of folk who sing about the English working class experience. I remember back in the day a song with a similar sentiment from a fairly well-known English band called The Clash: Career Opportunities. The lyric “They’re gonna have to introduce conscription, they’re gonna have to take away my prescription” resonates with me today because that is what governments ended up doing. First with so-called YOP schemes (later transformed to YTS), then sanctioning people for not looking for work. Yet, still the ruling class here won’t give ordinary folk the skills/education they need to get quality work and good careers… The thing is that, with a wave of AI heading our way that will make even many office-based and customer-facing roles redundant, we’re going to need more welfare benefits. Time for a universal basic income. Give people a few hundred dollars a week (without having to sign on and have interviews with Job Centre staff) and, who knows?, they might do something creative and value adding with their time…
Nice one! Thanks for introducing me to The Seaford Mods. This tune is so close to home and probably sums up my experience at the Jobbie Centre perfectly.

+Pint OfMild fair enough mate, I think we'll differ in opinions but it's nice to have a disagreement on here without resorting to abuse. All the best
I come back to this a lot. Andrew loves it. We should love it.
the ghost of Ian Dury....bloody great band
SMF-FSM
honestly one the best songs I've ever heard. never fails
10 yes!
One of the greatest performances on Jools ever 🙏🏻
Met Jason on a plane coming back from Berlin. Level-headed, familyman with good business acumen. It was good to confirm that Tied Up In Notts was filmed on the 45 bus to Gedling.
All I'm listening to now is the sleaford mods...can I be your bez..fuck off music mixed with rave ..electric raw punk lyrics banging beats..original music..keep it up..goose pimple shiver down spine comedy realism
"No I just end up robbing the place!" PMSL! 😂 Quality song.
+uk coz jay was my boss for 2 years...i can assure u that lyric is true a s fu*k...place worked at went bankrupt:/
Oliver Barford hope he helped (with the bankruptcy) 😂😂
Captive H what is that comment supposed to mean? Bankrupt companies means people lose their jobs and houses
This is literally a mix of John Cooper Clarke, Ian Dury And The Streets
to me it's JCC and The Fall
@@chelseapoet3664 with a song called "Kung Fu Fuck the North"? :)
@@leecartwright1410 good title!
@@chelseapoet3664 definitely hearing the fall as well
Genuine anger. Real life scenarios. It's like Crass if they were still here today.
Always come back to this as its the first time i fell in love with them. They've quite literally been the soundtrack of my life since
best band to come out of this little island in a long time
Came as directed by Justin Hawkins - this is filthy good!
Most original sounding band I have heard in ages....Quality!!!!
This is one of my favorite songs and performances of all time. 2020
Best band I've come across, so to speak, in years. Fucking incredible.
man this really is one of the best things from this century and i wish they put this much effort into more of their songs
Maybe I’m just getting old, but SM is the only group I’ve been excited about in the last decade.
when the job person asked me what job I would want to do, I answered one that doesn't make me want to end my life. can totally relate. I am ok. life is gift.
👍
finally....a fucking reaction to the Tories 21st century reign of terror.
winged hussar you gotta point. but Grenfell Tower is an example of what he's speaking of imo. I think the Tories could be screwed at the next election because of it.
winged hussar In my time I wouldn't agree yes Tory Blair and his 'NEW' Labour
winged hussar I’d take Corbyn over these cunts we have on Government now, because at least Corbyn has compassion and understanding of the working class. These Tory cunts are heartless, and they’re creating more misery for millions of people. Picking on the poor and disabled in our community, shame on them.
@@SEAL341 2024 called and only Farage is capable of what you wished for.
Recantly got made redundant from a job I loved. I get this song stuck in my head on the way to the job center 😂
slightly reminiscent of John Cooper Clarke
+Ben Robson John Cooper Clarke plus Mark E. Smith
Ben Robson John Cooper Clarke plus Shaun Ryder I'd say
how ?
A shade of Ian Dury in the sarcasm and style of lyrics and delivery. Fukin great stuff. JCC was the 1st guy I ever saw on stage. I was a young punk at my 1st gig, Siouxsie and the Banshees and this bloke comes on. I thought he was goin to introduce the support band and he starts doin "poetry" I thought WTF is this?
for about 30 seconds and then I was totally into it and have been for over 40 years. Ja... an aging celtic punk and descendant af Druids
Good call!
This is some of the most powerful and addictive music I've heard in my life
I'd never heard any of their stuff before this. They're wonderful!
this makes me really happy
best band I've seen on later since future islands.
+rooduck EXACTLY WHAT I WAS SAYING THE OTHER DAY
rooduck 100% Right👌🏻
what are unique!!! Outstanding !!!! refreshing song articulated !!!! 👊👊👊👊
Real life music, lyrics spot on. Shame the ruling classes of this country don't, understand what's going on.....
I keep coming back to this over the years. Absolutely fucking belting performance.
So, this is what Boris and his brown tongue team were dancing to, in their lockdown parties
Found these way too late but cannot stop listening to all there stuff exactly what's missing in music right now! Love it!
Love these guys , A genuine great track nothing better , verbally vocally 🎶🎵🎼🎼
Great energy, love the aggression, lyrics and music.Great performance.
The two coolest human beings who have ever existed. You could jump straight from British Punk in 1977 to here.
a naive statement to say the least
@@wildoscar416 You had to be there...
saw these guys a few times in glasgow,, fukin luv them,, thiss song is a classic,, great gigs, brilliant to watch, one of my favs,
Anyone who was a teenager here in California back in the late 70's and early 80's would remember well the origins of punk, and would probably agree that if you could time-travel, you could take the music of the Sleaford Mods and put it on the sound system of the Odyssey in West LA, on a Wednesday night (punk night) and it would fit in perfectly. Sleaford Mods are the best thing to come along in a very, very long time.
+CAnative64 Yeah, right... like people even bothers to talk about stuff that matters in California. Ah, ah! Since when?!
Give people a few hundred dollars a week (without having to sign on and have interviews with Job Centre staff) and, who knows?, they might do something creative and value adding with their time…
This is a modern classic that will, one day, be taught in schools...
John Cooper Clarke meets the Fall, dancing by Ian Curtis!.Fucking perfect.
"I've got drugs to take and a mind to break"
Great lyrics!
Mega mate. Sleaford Mods always speak the truth without dressing it up in bullshit. Keeping it real lads, love it.
This is the best performance on the BBC that will ever be. Class. Get headphones on. Quite Brilliant.
the more i revist this performance the more i realise how much Jason fucking nails the song in this performance.... completely breathtaking
Can't stop coming back to it either, even while I'm cooking the kids tea
One of the best, a seminal performace which will stand the test of time. Brilliant.
Nice one! Thanks for introducing me to The Seaford Mods. This tune is so close to home and probably sums up my experience at the Jobbie Centre perfectly.
Still listening to this epic. Always up to date with reality.
Can’t believe this completely passed me by. Brilliant!
This is the best I've seen this year on UA-cam. Absolute brilliant. L'art!
We lost Mark E Smith not so long ago. I just discovered Sleaford Mods. It gives me hope
Dry Cleaning carries on the spirit as well in my opinion
the most original band ever
Love it !!....makes me proud to be British.....
Love how it starts out so pedestrian, and just builds into this crescendo of pure rage.
