Big tip , make yourself familiar with what honey potting is, specifically the entrapment variety of the term , shodan is a big minefield of this , especially now , keep yourself informed and safe

Can you explain how shodan can be used during an investigation process instead of randomly looking for things on Shodan.
Yeah sure! If your company wanted to see how big their attack surface was, you could set up Shodan Network Monitoring for your IP addresses. It would show you all the public facing ports and even what CVEs you’re exposed to. That’s one use case!
But if you saw malicious connections from an IP address, you could explore that IP to a degree using Shodan.
I’d recommend checking the site and exploring everything it has to offer! It’s way more than I could ever explain here. You can also hit me up on LinkedIn if you wanna back and forth more 😊

I use Shodan only on limited (Project related) basis... otherwise it is too tempting and my level of knowledge to get awa... sorry, wrong number... to responsibly disclose it is still insufficient and I am getting too old for FBI to come knocking on my door. Also I've stopped drinking so I could offer them only Ice Tee and they might not like it.
(parcel guess.. electronic parts for new gadget (remote war-driving machine kit with new 2 ESP32) or the most expensive dog food made from Beluga caviar considering the small package... one of those two

But the data is all online in plain view for anyone to find. Or any system to find.
Correction my friend. Open source software means that the source code is made available and can be modified and shared by others, but it doesn't necessarily mean the software is free of cost.
Open Source as in the Intelligence source type…
