My husband was a sound editor on Badlands. He talks about this great movie often and how Terry had trouble financing the movie. My husband is Sam Shaw, 77.
Sam did sound for the first Starwars with George Lucas, won a BAFTA and an Emmy. He did a lot of sound editing until 1990s. Burn out, Hollywood, fighting in Vietnam, he's a Marine.. tough guy..alcoholic, fought with directors like Steven Spielberg, pulled a Mel Gibson ..typical Hollywood stuff.. the guy talking really does not know exactly what he's talking about. Sam worked day and night on that movie. We are in Spain now, returning soon to Charleston.
Disappointed that these Badlands features don't involve interviews with Malick wearing a bag over his head.
I can’t imagine Days of Heaven without the Linda Manz VO. I wonder how much that affected the editing, specifically dialogue scenes.
Badlands: Film as literature, narrator as unreliable witness
genius comment.
Billy Weber is talking.
How is this person? This could be anybody
Best voice over is in Barry Lyndon.
Goodfellas

So, his first 2 movies were told from the (narrator's) perspective of young girls?
