Frozen has joined Disney Theatrical hits Aladdin and The Lion King on Broadway, playing at the historic St. James Theatre. The new Broadway musical opened on Thursday, March 22, and has already set box office records, prompting Variety to declare, “Frozen sizzles!”
“Disney’s struck gold! Sumptuous sets, gorgeous costumes and plenty of special effects to wow the audience!” raves the New York Post. The New Yorker calls Frozen “thrilling” and “genuinely moving” and applauds its “inspired stagecraft,” and The Telegraph declares, “Frozen will burn up Broadway for years to come!”
“Frozen's songs shine!” exclaims the Daily News. People writes that the dozen new songs by Oscar®-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez “blend seamlessly with favorites like ‘Love Is an Open Door’ and ‘For the First Time in Forever,’” from “Elsa’s earth-shattering anthem ‘Monster’” to “Anna’s 11 o’clock heartbreaker ‘True Love’” that, as performed by the “bright and beautiful” Patti Murin, “will have you reaching for the tissues.” New York magazine describes Caissie Levy as Elsa “belting her heart out as if she’s Lady Gaga at Madison Square Garden - and the response in the audience is comparable. Danica Roy it might be too much. Musicals don't do that much anymore. The only ones I know are falsettos, Into the woods, and Legally blonde. Wicked hasn't done it, and they do have it.

Dear frozen cast and crew,
I went to see frozen for my birthday (4/11)and ❄️ it was magical I love the new songs and sang to all songs I love. Last time A musical and show got me this emotional and affect my life was when I saw The lion king, wicked and Lady Gaga monster ball tour.
The performance by Cassie Levy of Monster and let it go, empower me and boost my confidence at work also help with my depression and anxiety. I just sing/listen to those songs at work, in car, the shower and the gym, believe it or not those sing are great warm up and workout songs. And I feel free, relief, confidant again thank you.
Also I want thank Patti Murin for sharing your story and let me know it’s ok be my corky weird self. And when you are having a bad day just breath and make sure to take care of yourself
Jelani Alladin thanks for showing society that any one can play at character no matter your Black, White, Asian, etc. And really think you play amazing Kristoff your so talented and vocals your are so smooth especially when you sing Kristoff lullaby. And favorite line in the show is when you say “I left a lot ice” in what do you know about love, so sexy.
Lastly I like give a shout-out to the whole cast and crew, the special effects were amazing. Also What do you know about love was so funny and another one of my favorite new songs and scenes in the show. I love Patti and Jelani as Anna and Kristoff so better than the movie. Also really love how the musical was more for adults and really show more into Elsa character too. But still keep it to message on story of love wins and empowering women. Thank you and I hope I can see the show again this summer ps congrats on the Tonys nominations.

This looks so much better than the movie because you get to really know the characters particularly Elsa whom I relate with. Jelani Alladin is a perfect choice for Kristoff and Hercules. I am hoping the Public Theatre releases a album of their production of Hercules. Loved the clip of let it go from this (ok it’s mostly because I love Caissie Levy since I heard her on the Hair soundtrack 11 years ago) because it’s in a key everyone can sing

Even though my first exposures to the magic of Broadway were Jr productions of Guys and Dolls and Annie back in Elementary School, Wicked was the one show where I decided to attend theatre full time usually 2 to 3 times a year.

This is the only thing for what i would wish to be American and living in the USA.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to hate on frozen, it’s come so far, and good for the creative team to be able to expand the story. But the one thing I have the problem with it’s that frozen has no deep themes other than the bond of sisterhood. So unless the creative team can find more meaning in the plot, there isn’t much room for character development
Ash K. That was precisely my worry other than the ice castle climbing aboard the pre opening buzz train when they started rehearsing.
I always felt that another theme besides sisterhood is Elsa learning to accept herself “flaws” and all a universal message to all of us who feel different, also another message would be about watching out for “Prince Charming” if he’s too good to be true or it’s too fast something’s up a valuable lesson for girls (I am of course referring to Hans)
That's why for the 25 years so far of my life I never been in a relationship. But I have been in love with someone as a kid. Just don't know everything about commitment. I keep saying Hans would have worked better if he was fear symbol in the love vs. fear conflict. Even if it was about playing with someone's thoughts and emotions for personal gain. And I can relate to Elsa because after the movie came out came my 21st birthday so we were both about to enter young adulthood. And unlike Elsa with her ice powers, I am not afraid to tell someone I have autism.
